Virginia State Park's Business and Revenue Division is accepting applications for an Administrative Operations Support Specialist position.
In this position, you will:
- Maintain certified VCIN operator status and meet all requirements established by the Chief of Public Safety & Law Enforcement, who is the designated official through the Virginia State Police for the Department’s VCIN access.
- Process background checks and provide information to the Chief of Public Safety & Law Enforcement for review and suitability determinations as outlined by policy.
- Provide support in maintaining administrative operations for the Virginia State Park Intranet SharePoint.
- Maintain a current and detailed SharePoint Site Map with scheduled quarterly updates.
- Collaborate with the Field Staff Administrative Coordinator to maintain a current SharePoint Standard Operating Procedure document.
- Assist the Business Administration and Revenue team with maintaining the automation repository and developing an owner maintenance schedule.
- Develop & maintain the division working group Team and associated channels.
- Advance and develop automations that effectuate efficiency amongst existing workflow procedures and processes.
DCR is the state’s lead conservation agency, and it takes a diverse agency to conserve resources for a diverse commonwealth.
This is a wage position, which is not eligible for Commonwealth of Virginia benefits (health care, paid leave, etc.) and is limited to working 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30. Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge and proficiency in using Microsoft 365 software.
- Experience demonstrating excellent writing and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with database administration.
- Familiarity with outdoor recreation operations.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing SharePoint or related website management experience.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Within in 90 days of employment, be eligible to obtain and secure NCIC/VCIN criminal justice terminal operator certification and maintain operator status throughout the duration of employment. See *Eligibility* requirements below for details.
This position requires the incumbent to be or become a NCIC/VCIN criminal justice terminal operator within 90 days of employment, completing all training required by the Virginia Department of State Police and Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Eligibility requirements are as follows:
- Successful completion of a fingerprint-based background check paid for at the expense of the applicant.
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must be a United States citizen or a lawful permanent resident of the United States and eligible for naturalization.
- Successful applicants shall not be wanted for a crime in state or out of state, and shall not have in their background:
- Violent felony convictions as defined under Code of Virginia § 17.1-805 (C) and felony or misdemeanor convictions requiring registration pursuant to the Sex Offender and Crimes against Minors Registry Act (§ 9.1-900 et seq.). A plea of no contest shall be considered as a conviction for purposes of suitability.
- Non-violent felony convictions directly related to the nature of the position within the last 10 years.
- Misdemeanor convictions involving moral turpitude (e.g., crimes as involving dishonesty, fraud, or conduct that violates societal standards of justice and good morals), possession of controlled substances, domestic violence, distribution of alcohol to a minor, two or more misdemeanor substance abuse offenses, or any other misdemeanor conviction directly related to the nature of the position within the last five years.
- Misdemeanor convictions involving the sale, manufacture, or distribution of any narcotic, controlled substance, imitation controlled substance, or dangerous drug as defined by law; within the last 5 years or more than once in the applicant's lifetime; no misdemeanor convictions of possession of marijuana within the past 12 months.
- Possession of a valid Virginia Driver's License or eligibility to obtain; no suspension within the past 12 months for moving violations; no convictions of drunk driving or driving under the influence within the past five years and not more than one conviction in the applicant's lifetime; no conviction of misdemeanor hit and run; no more than two traffic violation convictions within one year; and no more than three Department of Motor Vehicles demerit points. The history is not restricted to the 5-year period utilized by insurers.
- Have prior violation of NCIC/VCIN system (or comparable) and shall not be listed in the NCIC Gang File or Threat Screening Center.

- Demonstrated experience using Power Platforms.
- Familiarity with Division of State Park administration and operations.
- Current access or experience as a user of the Virginia Criminal Information Network
