Job Duties
The Office of Internal Audit at the Virginia Department of Health is seeking a Staff Auditor to support performance audits by conducting fewer complex reviews, assisting senior auditors, identifying key criteria and data sources, and helping develop audit objectives, project plans, and inspection tools. Additionally, ensure workpapers meet OIA standards and help refine findings and recommendations and provide administrative support through follow‑up reviews, special projects, system updates, presentations, contributions to the annual audit plan, and completion of ad hoc assignments as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
• Ability to learn and to interpret government and business processes.
• Ability to research and interpret applicable federal, state and local government laws, regulations and statutes.
• Knowledge of techniques needed to perform appropriate analysis
• Ability to assist a senior auditor with a process improvement projects/task
• Skills to identify and document processes
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact and
communicate effectively within the audit team
• Good PC skills (Word processing, spreadsheets, email)
Additional Considerations
• Auditing experience
• Demonstrated progression towards obtaining CGAP, CPA, CIA, CISA, or other equivalent professional certification is desirable.
