Job Duties

Hiram W Davis Medical Center is a 94-bed medical facility that provides acute medical diagnosis, skilled, intermediate and long-term care to individuals receiving services in facilities operated by the Commonwealth of Virginia’s Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services, as well as individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities within the community.

HWDMC has been awarded the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The ideal candidate must possess the following Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of the principle and procedures of providing cosmetology services
Skill in providing standard services
Ability to read, write and communicate effectively with others
Possess the physical ability to reposition adult residents and patients without restrictions
Ability to follow directions regarding Central Medical Equipment Supply (CMES) procedures Knowledge of equipment care, sanitation procedures and inventory control.

This position is hourly/wage and not eligible for benefits. Hourly (wage) employees may not work more than 29 hours a week and are limited to working 1500 hours in a May to April time period

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of State Approved Training course in Cosmetology
Current Licensure with the Virginia Board of Cosmetology

Additional Considerations

Working experience with barber/beautician, preferred
Familiarity in working within a special population, preferred
