Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Health (VDH) is seeking a Recruiter to join our Talent Acquisition team. This role is responsible for a diverse portfolio of positions across the agency while serving as a trusted advisor to hiring managers throughout the hiring process.
As a Recruiter, you will utilize recruitment strategies, identify and engage top talent, guide managers through the hiring process, and ensure every recruitment is conducted in compliance with the Commonwealth's policies and employment laws. Your work will directly support VDH's mission by helping attract talented professionals who improve the health and well-being of communities across Virginia.
The Recruiter is responsible for the full cycle recruitment process for assigned area(s), including recruitment planning, sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, making offers, pre employment screening, and facilitating onboarding. Recruiters also provide support for talent acquisition initiatives and promotes a positive image by participating in and representing the agency at career fairs, universities and colleges, and other special interest events. Recruiters implement effective recruitment strategies, procedures, and practices that align with VDH’s mission and strategic framework while ensuring that human resources practices are carried out in accordance with guidelines and standards established by the Department of Health, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), and all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
The Virginia Department of Health offers 12 paid holidays, medical, dental, vision and life

Minimum Qualifications
• Experience in recruiting and talent acquisition
• Knowledge of laws, regulations, and best practices applicable to human resources,
hiring, and recruitment
• Knowledge and experience with the full cycle recruitment process and sourcing
strategies for a variety of roles
• Experience utilizing applicant-tracking software or other recruitment tools
• Knowledge of talent acquisition metrics and reporting
• Excellent relationship-building, consultative, and collaboration skills
• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
• Proficient with current software packages including Microsoft Office applications
(Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
Additional Considerations
• Knowledge of Commonwealth of Virginia recruitment policies and procedures
• Experience using state HR systems to include Cardinal and PageUp, and/or related
HRIS, such as ServiceNow
