Job Duties

The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center (SVHEC) is seeking an Executive Administrative Assistant to support its mission of advancing Southern Virginia’s economic potential through education, innovation, and collaboration. The Southern Virginia Higher Education Center provides access to higher education, workforce training and programming, innovative industry services, and technologically advanced state-of-the-art facilities and learning labs that includes comprehensive fiscal management, operational and supportive services, community outreach and engagement, and extensive collaborations. These components work together to support the organization’s mission of advancing Southern Virginia’s economic potential through education, innovation, and collaboration. This position will provide high-level administrative support and advances the agency’s mission by managing the Executive Director’s calendar, communications, and board relations. This role also plans, coordinates, and tracks special projects, research, and organizational events. This position reports to the Executive Director and requires strong organizational skills, discretion, and the ability to manage complex projects, and stakeholder engagement. The position also contributes to the overall success of the Center by performing additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge and experience of office practices, procedures, and techniques; Considerable knowledge and experience of computer software packages used in a business setting to include Microsoft Office Suite; Demonstrated ability to prioritize and perform a wide variety of administrative assignments and to effectively manage office activities; Demonstrated ability to prepare and compile reports; Demonstrated ability to create and maintain files to include electronic filing systems; Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of persons both orally and in writing; Demonstrated ability in the use of a multi-line telephone and strong organizational skills and the ability to work with sensitive and confidential data, handle multiple tasks simultaneously, coordinate multiple assignments and meet critical deadlines; Demonstrate considerable knowledge with project management.

Additional Considerations

College coursework in Business or related field. Progressive experience serving in administrative roles. Considerable experience in project support. Demonstrated experience supervising staff, including assigning work, providing guidance, evaluating performance, and supporting professional development.
