Job Description:
The Department of Juvenile Justice is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth and strengthen families and communities across the Commonwealth. DJJ's Division of Education is seeking a qualified Graphic Imaging Technology Teacher to provide high-quality, competency-based instruction that supports the individual learning needs of students and aligns with the Commonwealth's educational standards, statutes, and program certification requirements. The teacher will design and deliver engaging, research-based instruction, foster a safe, respectful, and student-centered learning environment, and use student data to inform instruction, monitor progress, and promote academic success.
Minimum Qualifications
Education/Licensure/Experience:
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
(1) Possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teaching License with an endorsement in Graphic Imaging Technology or a Virginia Technical Professional License; or
(2) Possess a bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, Graphic Communications, Printing Technology, or a closely related field; or
(3) Have at least two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) occupational experience within the past five years in Graphic Imaging Technology or a closely related field.
Additional Considerations
Experience as a Graphic Imaging Technology Teacher in a secondary setting preferred; Experience teaching at-risk youth preferred.
