Job Duties

Supports the Virginia Department of Corrections (VADOC) workforce needs by serving as an Administrative Expert, Change Agent, Employee Champion, Strategic Partner, and positive contributor as a member of the Recruitment Team. Position is responsible for full life-cycle recruitment to meet the staffing needs within the agency. Creates effective working relationships with hiring managers providing guidance in order to attract the best possible pools of candidates, while ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM) and DOC policies. Develops recruitment plans and champions strategies to engage diverse applicant pools. Identifies strategies to increase the awareness of opportunities within the Agency. Works closely with Management and Team Lead within HR to establish and monitor metrics. Fully engages candidates throughout the hiring process and manages candidate and hiring manager expectations to ensure a smooth recruitment process. Maintains Recruitment files as required by procedure. Identifies and critically thinks through complex issues making recommendations for solution. Prepares professional correspondence and communicates effectively. Delivers quality customer service and establishes effective working relationships with the Recruitment and Health Services Talent Acquisition Team (HSTA).

Position primarily recruits for the Eastern Region

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of Human Resources policies/procedures and federal and state employment laws. Substantial and recent HR recruitment experience to include full cycle recruitment: sourcing, candidate evaluation, selection, and presentation to hiring managers. Experience evaluating candidates for high volume and difficult to fill positions. Experience managing multiple applicant pools, scheduling interviews, coordinating pre-employment activities, and presenting offers. Experience providing excellent internal and external customer service in a fast-paced, high-volume recruitment environment. Demonstrated ability to develop and implement recruitment strategies and plans. Knowledge of recruitment resources and strategic partners used in the recruitment of a diverse job family/career grouping. Ability to successfully interact with a diverse population. Strong organizational skills. Ability to work in a self-directed manner as well as a contributing member of a team. Considerable experience using Microsoft Office to include, Word, and Excel in a professional environment.

Additional Considerations

Proficiency in the Commonwealth of Virginia (COVA) Recruitment Management System to include posting jobs and screening applications consistent with the Department of Human Resource Management’s requirements. Experience using an applicant tracking system (ATS) for the purpose of screening applications and posting jobs. Experience working in a Healthcare recruitment setting.
