The Virginia Information Technologies Agency (VITA) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as a Training & Governance Consultant with the Project Management Division.
The PMD Training & Governance Consultant supports the Project Management Division's mission to deliver consistent, high-quality project management practices across VITA and its Commonwealth agency customers.
This role owns four connected functions: developing and delivering project management training, maintaining and updating PMD standards and methodology documentation, managing project and portfolio risk processes, and providing oversight and governance support to ensure PMD practices align with Commonwealth IT policy and industry best practice (e.g., PMI, ITIL, or COV project management standards).
This position works closely with project managers, agency stakeholders, and VITA leadership to build project management capability, keep governing documents current, and ensure risks are identified, tracked, and escalated appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications
Considerable experience in strategic and tactical planning, program management, and policy development for medium to large organizations in the private and/or public sector.
Considerable experience planning, implementing, reviewing, or evaluating IT projects, including developing and publishing policies, standards, or guidelines.
Experience developing and delivering training or facilitating adult learning.
Considerable experience working within project management standards and/or risk management frameworks.
Experience interpreting and applying federal and state laws/regulations.
Experience working with internal and external stakeholders.
Considerable experience managing recurring review cycles for standards, templates, or methodology documentation, including maintaining version control and change history.
Considerable experience preparing formal reports, briefings, or presentations for leadership based on project or portfolio analysis.
Certifications such as PMI‑RMP or PMP are required.
Additional Considerations
Previous Commonwealth experience is highly desirable.
