Are you passionate about helping service members turn their military medical experience into meaningful civilian healthcare careers? The Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program is looking for a dynamic, relationship-driven professional who is ready to make an impact.

In this role, you’ll work directly with military medics, corpsmen, and other military medical professionals as they navigate their transition into Virginia’s healthcare workforce. You’ll help connect their experience to career pathways, education, credentialing, licensure, employers, and other resources that can move them toward their next opportunity.

You’ll build relationships with healthcare employers, educational institutions, military installations, workforce partners, and community organizations; represent MMAC at events and meetings; and help strengthen pathways that recognize the tremendous skills military medical professionals bring to Virginia.

The purpose of this position is to support the Military Medics and Corpsmen (MMAC) Program by helping military medical professionals successfully transition their training, skills, and experience into Virginia’s civilian healthcare workforce. The position provides individualized resource coordination and assists clients in navigating employment, education, licensing, credentialing, and career pathways.

The position also supports relationships with healthcare employers, educational institutions, licensing and regulatory entities, military installations, and community partners to strengthen pathways for military medical talent. Through client support, outreach, research, presentations, data collection, and program activities, this position helps reduce barriers to civilian healthcare careers and supports Virginia’s healthcare workforce needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of healthcare systems, workforce development, and credentialing/licensure processes.

• Familiarity with military healthcare occupations and their civilian equivalents.

• Understanding of career pathways, education, training, and professional advancement opportunities.

• Familiarity with laws, regulations, policies, and procedures affecting healthcare and program operations.

• Experience supporting military-connected populations through services, resources, referrals, or career assistance.

• Ability to conduct research and support legislative, policy, budget, funding, and program recommendations.

• Strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and customer service skills.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Experience developing and delivering presentations, briefings, training, and public-facing information.

• Ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, employers, healthcare organizations, educational institutions, military installations, and community partners.

• Experience supporting outreach, events, stakeholder engagement, and partnership activities.

• Ability to collect, maintain, analyze, and report program and performance data.

• Ability to independently manage a high-volume workload, client caseload, deadlines, and competing priorities.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn client and program management systems.

• Ability and willingness to travel throughout Virginia to support clients, employers, partners, meetings, and events.

• Prior military medical experience as a Combat Medic (68W), Hospital Corpsman, Medical Technician (4N0X), or comparable military medical specialty is preferred.

Additional Considerations

Experience in public health, clinical or medical services and prior military service as a healthcare professional with duties similar to a military medic or combination of education and job experience.
