Job Duties

NVMHI is seeking a Director of Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR) to provide strategic and operational leadership for the hospital's active treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation services. The Director will be an integral member of the Clinical Leadership Team (CLT) and will work collaboratively with clinical leaders to advance treatment excellence across the hospital.
The Director will lead the continued development of an integrated active treatment model that supports recovery and provides meaningful opportunities for patients to engage in individualized and group-based therapeutic services. This position will provide leadership and direction to Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Expressive Therapy, and other psychosocial rehabilitation programming, while supporting collaboration across disciplines to ensure that treatment opportunities are coordinated, clinically meaningful, and responsive to individual patient needs.
A key priority for this position will be advancing NVMHI's community of practice for active treatment, with a particular focus on strengthening the hospital's group treatment modality. The Director will support clinicians in developing high-quality, evidence-informed groups; establishing consistent expectations and best practices; evaluating effectiveness; and creating opportunities for staff to learn from one another and continuously improve treatment delivery.
The Director will also support the development of individualized treatment opportunities, including programming and therapeutic schedules that complement each patient's treatment plan, interests, strengths, abilities, and recovery goals. This includes working with clinicians and treatment teams to identify opportunities for patients who may benefit from individualized approaches or additional therapeutic engagement beyond traditional group programming.
As a member of CLT, the Director will collaborate with Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, Medical Services, and other clinical disciplines on hospital-wide clinical initiatives. The Director will contribute to ongoing efforts to strengthen treatment planning, active treatment, therapeutic milieu practices, and proactive approaches to behavioral health needs.

Minimum Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Mental Health, Human Services, Rehabilitation, Occupational Therapy, Recreational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology, or another closely related clinical or behavioral health discipline from an accredited college or university.

• Current professional licensure or certification in a relevant clinical or rehabilitation discipline.

• Demonstrated experience planning, developing, implementing, integrating, and evaluating behavioral health, psychosocial rehabilitation, active treatment, or related clinical programs.

• Demonstrated supervisory and/or management experience, including experience leading, developing, and supporting multidisciplinary staff.

Additional Considerations

• Experience providing leadership within an inpatient psychiatric, behavioral health, rehabilitation, or other complex clinical setting.
• Experience leading or developing active treatment or group-based therapeutic programming.
• Experience developing communities of practice, clinical education programs, or staff development initiatives.
• Experience with therapeutic milieu development, behavioral health programming, or proactive behavioral support approaches.
• Experience working in a public behavioral health system or state-operated behavioral health facility.
• Experience with accreditation and regulatory standards applicable to inpatient behavioral health settings.
