Norfolk State University’s (NSU) Department of Facilities Management provides a campus environment that is conducive to working and learning through systematic maintenance, repair, and renovation and construction of campus buildings, facilities, and infrastructure.
The department invites applications for Plumber Tech II – Residential Halls. Plumber will assist in maintenance of all residential halls and exterior plumber repairs, as well as equipment and machinery repairs.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
Minimum Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
• Knowledge and experience in commercial plumbing
• Skilled in troubleshooting, repairing, and installing plumbing systems and components
• Demonstrated ability to read system drawings
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Demonstrated ability to give and follow instructions
• Demonstrated ability to interact well with administrators, faculty, staff, students, and the general public.
• Must be available to work both day and evening hours
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
Minimum Qualifications
Must have significant number of years of experience in plumbing skills. Must possess a valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
Additional Considerations
• Extensive experience and knowledge of complex plumbing industry standards
• Backflow Prevention Device Tester’s License
• Associate’s Mechanical Degree or Technical Plumbing Certification or Military plumbing experience
