About the Organization
The Virginia Racing Commission is vested with control of all horse racing with pari-mutuel wagering in the Commonwealth with the plenary power to prescribe regulations and conditions under which such wagering and racing shall be conducted so as to maintain horse racing in the Commonwealth of the highest quality and free from corrupt, incompetence, dishonest or unprincipled practices to maintain complete honesty and integrity.
About the Position
The Pari-mutuel Wagering and Licensing Coordinator will be responsible for the Pari-mutuel wagering data and managing the day-to-day operations of the licensing department, including the following: Oversee the data entry of pari-mutuel wagers taken at SWFs, including HHR and simulcast. Enter the pari-mutuel wagering data through ADW and on-track. Check weekly and monthly tax payments made by licensees. Determine eligibility and issue licenses to racing participants, licensee employees, and vendors. Perform background checks through Livescan fingerprinting as needed. Collect and record fines/penalties internally and with the Association of Racing Commissioners International. Track termed licenses and fingerprinting compliance for license holders. Send out monthly invoices for licenses. Maintain the licensing office's day-to-day functions. This job will require some weekend work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, including overnight travel, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee’s official Employee Work Profile/job description.
This position is not eligible for telework.
Minimum Qualifications
· Attention to detail.

· Effectively communicate both orally and in writing with diverse groups.
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
· Ability to read and understand the Virginia Racing Commission regulations.
LICENSURE / CERTIFICATION: Must be able to qualify for a license with the Virginia Racing Commission and hold a valid driver’s license.

· Some bookkeeping/finance knowledge and experience.

The candidate selected for this position must complete a background check to receive a Virginia Racing Commission license. Must be able to work required weekends and required overnight travel. Knowledge of Pari-mutuel wagering and/or Spanish speaking is helpful.
