Job Duties

As a Senior Java Developer, responsible for all IT phases of the system development life cycle (SDLC) for one or more IT systems. Confer with analysts, domain experts and users to understand and document requirements, estimate levels of effort and meet system needs. Perform complex analysis and programming duties (including enhancements and maintenance) utilizing security best practices; provide technical leadership on system integration and transition; and ensure application services are installed and configured based on business needs and system requirements. Respond to inquiries and troubleshoot issues related to scalability, response times, availability, security, reliability, robustness and accessibility; assist and mentor other IT staff; and provide training and support as needed. Support systems that access Federal Tax Information.

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge of Java related enterprise architecture standards and best practices; n-tier technologies; SDLC methodologies; industry best practices in source code control, configuration management; and IT Security requirements.

Substantial experience in architecting and developing complex n-tier or cloud Java/J2EE applications; designing and developing applications using JSP, Servlets, Spring Core, Spring MVC and JavaScript; ORM Frameworks (e.g., Hibernate), SQL Server, and Java Development IDE (e.g., Eclipse), Subversion; utilizing design patterns and software development best practices.

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication, IT design and development, project management, and problem resolution skills.

Demonstrated ability to function as a technical expert on complex applications/systems/software/projects; interact effectively in a team environment; work independently with strict deadlines, heavy workload and changing priorities.

Must successfully complete an FBI fingerprint background investigation, state law enforcement background check, and citizenship/residency validation of the subject’s eligibility to legally work in the United States (e.g., a United States citizen or foreign citizen with the necessary authorization). Subsequent reinvestigation(s) must be conducted within 5 years from the date of the previous background investigation.

Additional Considerations

Experience, education and/or training in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.

Knowledge/experience of any JavaScript framework, JBOSS Application Server, JSF, LDAP/ Active directory, and experience performing code reviews and/or documenting applications/systems and business processes.
