Central State Hospital (CSH), a State of Virginia mental health hospital located near Petersburg, VA, is recruiting for a Full-Time Distribution Driver to join our progressive team of staff. The Distribution Driver purpose is to safely and efficiently deliver meals and other food service products for consumption by the individuals of Hiram W. Davis Medical Center and Central State Hospital.
Job Duties Include:
- Safely load tray carts to be delivered to designated areas each day at specified times;
- Ensure proper food temperatures are maintained during the transportation of meals/sustenance;
- Ensure food trays are transferred from transport cart to retherm cart and docked properly;
- Ensure Retherm Units, Tea and Coffee machines are working properly by conducting a test run for verification;
- Transport all soiled tray carts after each meal back to building 112 to be properly cleaned and santized;
- Monitor and record the refrigeration temperature of the distribution trucks TWICE daily;
- Perform tasks in accordance with federal, state and local regulatory requirements;
- Inspect vehicles before, during and after operation to ensure that no damage has occurred and obey all traffic laws;
- Complete any additional assigned task.
Minimum Qualifications
- Valid Virginia drivers license
- Ability to operate trucks and vans used in distribution of patient meals and supplies
- Knowledge of safe driving principals and/or techniques.
- Knowledge of safe food handling practices (receiving, storage, preparation, etc.)
- The ability to load and secure cargo, perform manual labor and tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting up to 70 pounds.
- Experience or ability to follow patient tray meal schedules.
Additional Considerations
- Experience working in a large food service operation
- Driving a commercial truck is also preferred
- Food service experience and/or serve safe certification
