Do you love science? Are you someone who loves to engage with people and facilitate learning? Then join our amazing team of Part time Science Presenters.
Science Presenters deliver hands-on engaging STEM programs to the museum’s diverse visitors. Duties include:
• Interacting with museum guests in the exhibitions - encouraging interactions through inquiry and play, answering questions and helping to ensure a positive guest experience
• Staffing the Museum’s Animal Lab and Eco Lab experiences
• Facilitate STEM programs as scheduled. Experiences could include floor presentations, hands-on cart activities and stage presentations
• Staffing Camp Ins and Science after Dark events
• Working occasional Education Outreach events
• Assist in the training of museum volunteers
Must be available to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
Please note that this is a part-time position and will be scheduled for 29 hours a week on average with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12 month period. No state benefits are provided.
Minimum Qualifications
Desirable candidates should be energetic, enthusiastic, outgoing and truly enjoy educating others, especially families and children. Possess excellent communication skills, have the ability to work with little supervision, take direction and have unending patience. Must have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills and be comfortable interacting with a diverse audience of varying ages from 0 - 100 in both one on one and group situations. Must be available to regularly work weekends, holidays and occasional after hour events.
Additional Considerations
Experience in teaching, public speaking or theater. Background in STEM. Prefer candidates with prior experience delivering K-12 programming in informal settings. Bilingual candidates encouraged to apply!
