Job Duties

The Facility Clinical Informaticist reports directly Healthcare Compliance Director at the facility and is dotted line to the DBHDS Director of Clinical Informatics. This position supports clinicians and administration in maximizing the effective, efficient and safe use of the EHR and other health IT technology by proficient users at the facility. Acting as a
key liaison between facility healthcare providers, IT analysts, and vendors, this role supports stakeholders in applying health IT solutions, particularly EHRs, throughout the system design lifecycle. This position facilitates the integration of
people and processes with EHR workflows while supporting the development of facility and system-level policies and procedures. By focusing on health IT adoption, supporting clinicians, and driving innovations, this role aims to improve
patient outcomes, operational efficiency, and user satisfaction, while reducing variation to enhance quality and performance.

• Healthcare Systems and Processes: Understanding of clinical workflows, patient care processes, and healthcare systems.
• Health Information Technology (HIT): Proficiency in EHR systems, health information exchange, and relevant standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA, Promoting Interoperability).
• Data Management and Analytics: Skills in data integration, analytics for quality improvement, and familiarity with descriptive statistics and Microsoft Excel.
• Clinical Decision Support: Understanding of clinical decision support tools and evidence-based guidelines.
• Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with healthcare regulations (i.e. CMS, Joint Commission etc.) and evidence-based framework and best practices.
• Change Management: Understanding of strategies and methodologies for managing technology adoption and organizational change.
• Technical Proficiency: Skills in designing, customizing, and optimizing EHRs and other health IT applications workflows.
• Project Management: Understanding of project management principles and competence in functioning in a projectized environment.
• Communication and Training: Strong written and verbal communication skills for liaising with stakeholders and delivering training and support.
• Problem-Solving and Critical Thinking: Ability to analyze workflows, troubleshoot issues, and make informed decisions.
• Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Capability to work effectively with healthcare professionals, IT teams, and vendors.
• Leadership and Adaptability: Dependable and credible authoritative leader with skills in leading small projects, driving change, and adapting to evolving technology and healthcare environments.
• Empathy and Patient-Centric Focus: Understanding of clinician and patient needs to enhance care and satisfaction


Minimum Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in clinical informaticist functions.
• Clinical care experience in medical facility and/or inpatient behavioral health setting.
• Experience in Electronic Health Records implementation and optimization

Additional Considerations

• RN License
• ANA nursing or HIMSS informatics certification.
• Quality, Patient Safety or Process Improvement certification.
• Master’s in clinical informatics
• Master’s in health informatics with clinical background and experience in clinical
informatics
