About the Position:

The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire a Program Support Technician Senior in our Criminal Justice Information Services Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will review Virginia and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)/III criminal records for discrepancies; provide updates to State and federal entities as appropriate; analyze and resolve Central Criminal History (CCH) disposition errors daily in the automated disposition work queue by identifying the error type, researching the information with the appropriate court and electronically applying the corrected disposition information to the criminal history record for compliance with § 19.2-387 of the Code of Virginia; perform computer format procedures to modify and update criminal records; research and analyze court disposition records which contain erroneous and incomplete information; contact court clerks to validate questionable data and submissions into VSP Mental Health database; and analyze Notification of Restoration of Capacity for restoration of firearms rights in compliance with §18.2-308.1:1 or §18.2-308.1:3 of the Code of Virginia.

Minimum Qualifications

Considerable knowledge of office practices and procedures. Working knowledge of analytical and research methods; and computer hardware and software processes. Skill in operating computers and using Microsoft Office applications and other automated equipment. Demonstrated ability to research and analyze court disposition errors and questionable data by applying established policies, procedures, laws, and regulations, and resolve errors using independent judgement; to utilize advanced research, analytical, customer service, organizational and time management skills; to accurately update record information and archive data and records; to generate required correspondence; to work independently and as a member of a team; to follow oral and written instructions and pay close attention to details; to effectively communicate in English orally and in writing with individuals at various law enforcement agencies, judicial staff, and the general public; and to respond professionally and efficiently to telephone inquiries.
