Job Title: Adjunct Instructor of Engineering Technology

Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: Expected to teach Associate of Applied Science- level Engineering Technology classes and laboratories. This position’s primary area of responsibility will be the Engineering Systems Technology degree, and requires experience in at least two of the following four primary area: Mechanical systems, Computer aided drafting, Machining and inspection, and Operations management. Also, will perform minor repairs and periodic maintenance on equipment assigned to the Engineering Technology Programs.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide instruction and training in the Engineering Systems Technology program and its disciplines. Instruction will cover, but is not limited to, mechanical systems, computer aided design, and manual and CNC machining and operations management.
  • Maintain knowledge of emerging technologies and processes relative to engineering technology. 
  • Share responsibility for day-to-day operation and routine upkeep of classrooms, labs, and equipment. 
  • May perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, Industrial Technology or other degree title related to the discipline.
  • Minimum of (3) years’ experience in the field. Consideration will also be given to graduates of B.S. programs in the fields of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology when accompanied by a strong demonstration of experience in disciplines previously mentioned through application and/or professional certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, Solidworks and /or REVIT.
  • Demonstrated experience in manual and and CNC machining.
  • Demonstrated experience in operations management and quality assurance.
  • Teaching experience at the secondary or post-secondary level or documented experience as a professional industrial trainer specifically in electrical and electronic applications.
  • Must be willing to support evening and distance education offerings as needed to reach students in varying demographics.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferential consideration will also be given to holders of graduate degrees in fields of Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Industrial Technology, but only if the B.S. requirements are also met.
  • Disciplines in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial and Applied Engineering will receive the highest consideration.
  • Experience in course delivery through hybrid and online technologies will be considered a plus.

  • Willingness to participate as a team member to realize the overall goals of the Engineering Technology programs and prepare students for the workplace and lifelong learning opportunities.
  • Strong desire to work with students and act as a professional mentor to help them achieve success is required.

Leadership & Supervisory: This position has no authority or responsibility for the supervision of others.

Environment & Working Conditions: Occasionally exposed to extreme, environmental conditions and hazardous materials.  Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations.  May be exposed to varying conditions when traveling to various work locations on other campuses.

Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):

  • Ability to perform minor repairs and periodic maintenance on equipment.
  • Ability to operate and manage machines in the department.
  • Travel to other campuses as needed to deliver course content.
  • Support evening and distance education offerings as needed to reach students.
