Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is accepting applications for the full-time Work-Based Learning Navigator position in the TCAT Knoxville Anderson County Higher Education Center. This is a grant-funded position.
The Work-Based Learning Navigator works to develop and expand work-based learning opportunities for K-12 students. They partner with local employers, schools, and community organizations to offer experiences like job shadowing, apprenticeships, career camps, and dual enrollment opportunities.
Job Duties
- Create and maintain a high-energy, welcoming atmosphere for students and staff
- Design comprehensive work-based learning programs from career awareness to preparation for students in K-12
- Collaborate with employers and education partners to create opportunities for career exploration, career assessment, job shadowing, pre-apprenticeships, and dual enrollment
- Establish partnerships to develop career exploration activities like speakers, field trips, job site tours, Remake Learning Days, and career camps
- Coordinate programs that support students' transition from secondary to postsecondary destinations
- Measure participation, effectiveness of partnerships, and impact of career awareness through preparation programming
- Assess student acquisition of career readiness skills and employer/partner feedback
- Evaluate program outcomes data to strengthen career development curriculum and experiences
- Compile reports and presentations on program highlights and successes
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of TCAT Knoxville GIVE Grant 3.0 goals and objectives.
- Provide customer service to all prospective and enrolled students at all TCAT Knoxville locations
- Actively support and participate in campus recruitment and retention efforts
- Assist applicants with defining a career path and understanding admissions requirements
- Must be willing to participate in continued professional development and training
- Demonstrate a willingness to work extra hours as needed to cover College events
- Some travel will be required
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree required, in a related field such as Business, Education, Marketing, or Counseling from an accredited institution.
• Minimum of two years’ work experience in customer service, education, recruitment, marketing, or related
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in higher education
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Demonstrated experience coordinating career education programs or partnerships
• Knowledge of K-12 career development and state standards
• Demonstrated experience with grant reporting and project management
• Attention to detail
• Strong customer service skills; must possess effective oral and written communication skills to convey college information accurately and to present information to large groups and individuals effectively
• Must have the ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs, audio/visual equipment, and software; and working knowledge of maintaining student records and/or sensitive information
• Must have the ability to multitask with good organization and planning skills
• Passionate belief in the power of education along with the desire to help students achieve their academic, professional, and personal goals
• Ability to relate to a diverse faculty, staff, and student population
• Ability to represent the College and division professionally with internal and external constituents to further the purpose, values, and mission of the College
• Strong relationship-building and communication skills are essential
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regent guidelines within the range of $45,906 - $59,678.
