Job Title: Bus Driver
Campus Location: Morristown Campus (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)
Job Purpose: The purpose of this position is to safely transport students, faculty and/or staff to and from events, including athletic and student club functions or field trips. Trips/destinations will be within a four (4) hour or less radius.
Essential Job Functions:
- Operates, cleans, maintains, and fuels, a 48-passenger bus (2020 Freightliner M2106 Executive Supercoach). Maintains accurate records of hours of service and miles driven. Conduct pre-trip and post -trip inspections. Report any needed repairs or observations regarding vehicle performance to Mechanic Supervisor and/or Logistics Coordinator. Observing all traffic laws and regulations while operating bus. Planning necessary routes as needed.
- May perform other duties as required.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or an equivalent
- Tennessee Commercial Driver’s License (CDL), Class A or Class B license with Passenger endorsement
- Current Department of Transportation Medical Examiners Certificate (physical card).
- Thorough knowledge of Tennessee Department of Transportation rules and regulation regarding right of way, signage, railroad crossings, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum two years CDL/Bus driving experience with good driving record and stable work history.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle maintenance repair and preventive maintenance procedures
- Knowledge of required first aide equipment and basic first aid procedures

Leadership & Supervisory: The incumbent has no responsibility or authority for the supervision of others, or for project direction and/or program administration. The position operates with moderate supervision, and tasks are somewhat varied. An immediate supervisor is readily available for consultation. Familiar work is expected to be performed with only moderate supervision, with periodic checks on progress and conformance with expectations.
Environment & Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to extreme heat, humidity, noise, vibrations, and temperature changes. Occasional exposure to extreme cold. Due to the nature of the position, bodily injury could occur, including damage from vehicular accidents or high sound volume exposure.
Physical Demands (including requirements for travel or working nights/weekends/holidays):
- Ability to safely operate a large bus in various weather conditions.
- Hours can vary depending on the scope and nature of an event.
- Working on weekends can occur based on event schedules.
