JOB OBJECTIVE: Develop and teach Video Production Technology courses. Contribute to the general oversight of a HDTV studio facilities and related equipment. Aid in curriculum development as it relates to new and emerging media, technologies, professional practices, and media ethics. An understanding of new technologies and processes in the industry to include software and equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
60% A. Develop and teach courses related to the design, production and delivery of visual media and prepare course syllabi and materials.
20% B. Evaluate student learning, maintain class records, contribute to management of labs, and equipment.
20% C. Participate in curriculum development, student advising, professional development activities, departmental meetings, college advisory boards, and committee meetings. Work with other Media Technology staff and faculty to obtain grants, recruit new students, retain existing students, work with advisory board to develop and modify curriculum. Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB STANDARDS:
- Master’s Degree in Video or media-related field from a regionally accredited college or university to include 18 graduate semester hours in Video, Communication or Media-related courses preferred. Or Bachelor’s degree in Video or media-related field from a regionally accredited college or university and professional experience sufficient to meet SACS criteria. Tenure will be contingent on applicant obtaining or achieving significant progress towards a Master’s Degree as above.
- Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated practical work experience in a relevant video-related environment. (More experience is desirable)
- Understanding of media convergence and the importance of multidisciplinary education as taught in the Media Technologies program at Pellissippi State.
- Higher education teaching experience beyond the level of Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant. (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos preferred.)
- Understanding of online delivery of courses and the importance of creating an online community with students to include social media such as online portfolios, blogs, and social networking
- Understanding of and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% of full-time experience.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:
- Professional experience creating materials for communications industry in contemporary and emerging media on a regional or national level.
- A portfolio (available either through a WEB SITE or by DEMO REEL) demonstrating professional experience in video or related area.
- Expertise sufficient to teach multiple level classes in Video Production Technology
- Skill as a visual communicator.
- Expertise in a field complimentary to existing PSCC Media Technologies faculty is desiredFamiliarity with professional standards, processes, equipment, techniques, ethics, and business practices in the video industry.
- Capability to deliver courses traditionally and online as appropriate.
- Professional experience problem solving and creating in post production environments including capturing and transferring video footage. Understanding of video compression, finishing and delivery formats. The ability to research and design new technologies and production workflows for professional and classroom scenarios.
JOB LOCATION:
Pellissippi State Community College (Hardin Valley Campus). Candidates should be prepared to teach at any of the
College’s campuses as needed. Accordingly, travel between sites may be required.
EQUIPMENT: Equipment and software skills are dependent on areas of expertise; with knowledge of professional broadcast software applications, Knowledge of video equipment with the ability to learn and shoot with a variety of video cameras. Other equipment skills necessary dependent on area(s) of expertise could be audio and video recording and editing equipment, lighting for still and video or motion picture production/post production, and server hardware and software.
