General Function:
Assists with maintaining the Banner Finance accounting software and coordinating accounting operations for the College to assist with verifying accounting records are maintained in accordance with governing policies, procedures and regulations; assisting with the preparation of financial statements and supporting schedules, assisting with budget preparation, bank reconciliations and other financial reporting.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree earned from a regionally accredited institution with a major in accounting and three years of accounting work experience including reviewing and preparing financial statements.

An Associate degree earned from a regionally accredited institution with a major in accounting and at least five years of accounting work experience including reviewing or preparing financial statements.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree earned form a regionally accredited institution in accounting or related field with one (1) year experience with Banner by Ellucian software; with three (3) years’ experience working with budgets and experience reviewing and preparing financial statements.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with maintaining Banner ERP system for finance and assists with upgrades and new applications as required.
- Prints all vendor checks using Banner and Evisions Intellecheck software
- Prepare and gather information for internal and external auditors, answer audit questions and provide variance explanations.
- Prepares annual financial statements and support schedules; Assists with preparation of year-end adjustments and closing entries; Assists with budget preparation and prepares various spreadsheet analyses, i.e., revenue projections and expenditure cost allocations, as requested to support the budget process and operation of the College
- Assists with cash management including preparing monthly bank reconciliations for the college.
- Provide training and routinely answer questions from the campus regarding departmental budgets.
- Grant accounting and reporting; Prepare the calculation for the federal Indirect Cost Rate and assist with the indirect cost proposal and submission.
- Review and reconcile funds, accounts and programs – especially restricted, agency funds, correct use of program codes and others as assigned.
- Provides accounting and other support for the payroll function as needed.
- Reviews equipment depreciation calculations for the College.
- Prepares college, TBR, THEC and other reports including Preparing the annual IPEDS finance submission and the annual Schedule of Federal Awards (SEFA) submission.
- Performs necessary functions relating to unclaimed property and sales tax reporting.
- Other duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Ellucian Banner and Evisions software.
- Knowledge of accounting procedures, fund accounting, financial statement preparation, and grant accounting.
- Confident in using initiative, prioritizing workload, and meeting deadlines.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and works in accordance with FERPA guidelines on the information disclosure
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community
- Collaborate and communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with fellow employees, and other stakeholder’s on matters pertinent to the college
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple and diverse projects
