 Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Oneida/Huntsville is accepting applications for the position of Associate Instructor, Culinary Arts located at the Morgan County Correctional Complex, Wartburg, TN.

 Job Duties

  • Teach and instruct rehabilitation and correctional students in technical training to prepare them to re-enter the job market in the culinary arts field through lecture, demonstrations, and/or audio visual aids - (Essential)
  • Prepare syllabi of courses of study with detailed lesson plans - (Essential)
  • Accurately prepare and submit all required documentation/reports by set deadlines - (Essential)
  • Administer tests to evaluate student progress - (Essential)
  • Maintain all student academic records related to the program (i.e., grades, attendance, discipline, etc.) - (Essential)
  • Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the Culinary Arts industry - (Essential)
  • Maintain close communication with correctional personnel and TCAT Oneida/Huntsville administration - (Essential)
  • Ensure compliance with all TBR, institutional, state, and federal requirements. – (Essential)

 Minimum Qualifications

Associate Degree or Diploma from an accredited technical training program in Culinary Arts, Family and Consumer Science, or any other field related to the hospitality industry.

Three years of related work experience in the Culinary Arts, nutrition, or dietetics.

ServSafe instructor/proctor certification

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree
Teaching experience
American Culinary Federation certification

 Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of food science, nutrition, sanitation/safety, basic food preparation, professional cooking and meal service, international cuisine, and the management of food production and service in the hospitality industry.
  • Ability to organize and provide theoretical and practical instructional activities to enable students to compete in the Culinary Arts job market
  • Organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher
  • Computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office applications, email, etc.)
  • Indication of willingness to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and business/industry personnel
  • Commitment to remaining current with industry practices through professional development activities
  • Ability to travel and/or work after school activities such as graduation, in-service, etc.
  • Strong, moral character, mature attitude, and stable personality.

Salary

Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines
