Job Summary
The Curriculum Development Director manages all course development for Seamless Alignment & Integrated Learning Support (SAILS). This position is responsible for coordinating and leading the curriculum planning/review process. They will ensure all staff and high school partners have proper training materials and educational end goals are met. The position serves on the SAILS Leadership Team, helps develop program strategy, and oversees its implementation.
Job Duties
- 55% - CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT AND MANAGEMENT- Ensures SAILS math curriculum and online course is continually improved to best prepare SAILS students for college-level math. • Develops and maintains the SAILS curriculum and online course to encompass both the TN Department of Education Course Standards and the TBR Course Competencies. • Coordinates course updates in a timely manner to allow for individual high school course setup and for yearly training of field coordinators and high school teachers/facilitators. • Facilitates the creation of engaging learning activities and supporting materials/media (audio, video, PDFs, etc.) that meet the highest academic standards in online learning. • Designs learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, including the demonstrated understanding of cultural differences that may apply. • Ensures that all content provides a cohesive student learning experience. • Maintains project documentation and course folders. - (Essential)
- 30% - PLANNING AND ANALYSIS- Responsible for coordinating and leading curriculum planning and review meetings. Assesses feedback and learning needs to ensure course development is effective and meets instructional end goals. • Promotes collaboration, partnership and relationships among the participants and stakeholders in course development. • Coordinates and leads committees and meetings with community college math departments, technical college faculty, and other outside groups on curriculum issues. • Sets instructional end goals in collaboration with curriculum committee members. • Compiles and organizes feedback from field coordinators and SAILS facilitators to guide updates and improvements of specific content items or course structure. • Analyzes feedback from program reviews and makes recommendations. • Develops comprehensive measurement strategies for all learning solutions to demonstrate impact and effectiveness. • Assesses learning needs and existing instructional material. • Researches and evaluates new innovations in both learning design and education and applies trends and best practices in development. - (Essential)
- 10% - COMMUNICATION AND TRAINING- Communicates and presents to staff and stakeholders regarding course updates and changes. Ensures staff and high school instructors/facilitators are trained on course content and resources. • Communicates effectively in visual, oral, and written form and delivers engaging presentations. • Assists SAILS leadership team with development and presentation of annual training for high school teachers/facilitators. • Provides training to field coordinators annually and as needed. • Creates and updates course training manuals annually and as needed. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
2 years teaching experience in postsecondary or high school mathematics.
Experience developing mathematics curriculum.
Intermediate to advance knowledge of learning management system (LMS) applications and/or online learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s Degree in education or closely related discipline
Experience in the SAILS Program.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of assigned subject area’s basic concepts and online learning software; secondary and higher educational structures. Understanding of diverse learning styles. Knowledge of assessment and evaluation methods.
Skills: Strong oral and written communication; Proficient with Apple/PC platforms; Proficient with office software/technology such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Drive and Adobe Professional; computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, data entry); supervision and office management skills; interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships; strong communication, teaching, and training skills.
Ability to: present information clearly and concisely; maintain confidentiality; work effectively on a team; work independently, take initiative, identify and solve problems; work with a diverse population; manage a large team using multiple communications and technology platforms.
