The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Associate Instructor of Nursing Aide to join our team. This full-time position offers the opportunity to teach across TCAT Knoxville's main campus, Blount Memorial, and Parkwest Campuses, with varying class times. Job Duties
The Nursing Aide Instructor is responsible for the instruction of students in the didactic, skills lab, and clinical arenas. The CNA Instructor maintains course documentation and related course communications while following these responsibilities:
• Instruction: The Nursing Aide Associate Instructor provides on-site instruction in entry-level caregiving that includes planning and implementing active learning activities that align with course competencies, utilizing assessment tools to measure student achievement, and distributing essential course information at the outset. Instruction is tailored to accommodate diverse learning styles, fostering an inclusive environment. The instructor oversees students' clinical learning, offers guidance on academic progress and career goals, coordinates with industry partners to create special training opportunities, maintains college policies, evaluates student progress, assigns grades, and keeps accurate attendance records, all while supporting students on their journey to successfully take the Certified Nursing Aide exam.
• Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi.
• Professional Growth: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
• Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement upon graduation; support student activities, including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
• Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; complete the annual Council on Occupational Education (COE) report for the program job placement of students as well as other accreditation requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• Must have an LPN licensure or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
• Must have a minimum of three years of experience in healthcare with at least one (1) year of long-term care experience; and meet State and Federal certification requirements for a nursing instructor in a long-term care facility
• Must possess an active nursing license from the State of Tennessee in good standing
Preferred Qualifications
ASN; Prior post-secondary nursing curriculum and/or skills teaching experience.

Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices; and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education; ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines; excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills; ability to participate as a team member, ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change; ability to handle confidential material judiciously; understanding of education programs and tools.
Utilize current College and/or department information technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Ellucian Banner, etc.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
Environment: Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. The majority of work performed (30 hours per week) will be instructing and training students, with the remaining 7.5 hours utilized for grading, recording attendance, and individual student meetings.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom and clinical health care setting.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the ranges of $50,894 - $61,074.
