Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville is excited to invite applications for a full-time Associate Instructor of Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics. This position, based at TCAT Knoxville's Anderson County Higher Education Center, offers a 37.5-hour workweek, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with a thirty-minute lunch break. As an accredited post-secondary technical college recognized by the Council on Occupational Education, TCAT Knoxville is dedicated to providing quality education and training, and we look forward to welcoming a passionate educator to our team.
Job Duties
• Instruction: Facilitate the classroom instructional process: evaluate and monitor student progress; assign grades; provide academic assistance to students; maintain attendance and grade records; counsel and advise students on career goals; work to retain students; maintain required classroom and office hours.
• Course and Curriculum Development: Select texts, equipment, supplies, and other learning resources; participate in the purchase of needed program supplies and equipment; develop instructional materials; create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed; maintain updated course syllabi;
• Professional Growth: Remain current within the instructional field and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college and division professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations; participate in the annual faculty evaluation process.
• Service to Students: Comply with FERPA laws; participate in advising, recruitment, admissions, and orientation of potential students; assist students with job placement upon graduation; support student activities, including SkillsUSA and NTHS.
• Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; provide input and assistance with budgets; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; maintain an active program advisory committee; complete the annual Council on Occupational Education (COE) report for the program as well as accreditation requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• Graduate from an Industrial Maintenance/Mechatronics diploma program, or have an Associate’s degree in an industrial maintenance or mechatronics-related field
• Minimum of three years’ work experience in the related field
Preferred Qualifications
• Teaching experience and/or experience in higher education

Knowledge of college policies, procedures, and practices; and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education; ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines; excellent organizational, analytical and planning skills; ability to participate as a team member, ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations, and ability to adjust to change; ability to handle confidential material judiciously; understanding of education programs and tools. Utilize current College and/or department information technology, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, Ellucian Banner, etc.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT: The conditions herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of this job successfully.
Environment: Work is performed in a classroom and shop setting with frequent interruptions and distractions. The majority of work performed (30 hours per week) will be instructing and training students, with the remaining 7.5 hours utilized for grading, recording attendance, and individual student meetings.
Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in a classroom and clinical health care setting.
SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the ranges of $55,983 - $67,181.
