JOB SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Head Baseball Coach, the Assistant Baseball Coach / Athletic Department Assistant provides support in all aspects of the baseball program. This position will work with pitchers and focus on development of the pitching staff. In addition, the position provides support and assistance in facility maintenance, including all aspects of the college’s baseball and softball fields. This position will also assist in game management for other college athletics programs.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Baseball Assistant Coach (pitching)
- Be available for all team practices, games and functions.
- Familiarity with up to date pitching programs, methods, analytics and instruction.
- Assist in organizing and running team practices.
- Operate team social media accounts.
- Operate all team technology (live stream, Synergy, video, radar gun, etc.).
- Monitor team strengthening and conditioning exercises.
- Prepare baseball scouting reports.
- Assist in fundraising efforts.
- Assist in the student athletic recruitment process.
- Assist in baseball and softball facility maintenance.
- Assist head coach in organizing and participating in team-related activities.
- Other administrative duties as assigned.by head baseball coach.
Athletic Department Assistant
- Assist in Fitness Center Coverage (ex: during operating hours)
- Assist the Director of Athletics in Game Management of home athletic events
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Athletics
EQUIPMENT
- Work activities routinely involve work with tools and equipment related to athletics and physical fitness.
- Activities also involve work with personal computers and peripheral devices, as well as basic office machines.
- Must be a licensed driver and able to operate a rental vans.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Strong and effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Knowledge of procedures to be followed in the event of an emergency.
- Demonstrated proficiency with various software packages including Microsoft office and Google suite.
JOB STANDARDS/QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or High School equivalency diploma required, Associates Degree preferred.
- A minimum of three (3) years of coaching experience is required.
- Ability to work with various populations (ie: student athletes, campus departments/employees, community members, etc.), as part of a team and work with others.
JOB LOCATION
This position is an on-site role located in the L. Quentin Lane Gymnasium, located on the main campus of Cleveland State Community College. Regular travel to athletic events at other institutions is expected.
