This is a full-time, 37.5 hours/week position at the DSCC Henry County Center in Paris, Tennessee. Performs routine work to clean and care for buildings and premises. Work involves responsibility for the proper cleanliness of the building and for the tools and equipment used. Instructions are received in oral or written form and work is periodically inspected by a superior for conformance with established standards of building care and cleanliness. Ability to work unsupervised.
Responsible for DSCC property and inventory of supplies. Ability to work flexible hours, if needed.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain cleanliness of building including, but not limited to: sweeping, mopping, buffing and vacuuming floors, dusting and cleaning furniture, emptying trash containers, cleaning and disinfecting restroom walls, floors, and fixtures, cleaning windows and glass doors.
- Help maintain the outdoor property. pick up debris on the Henry County Center grounds.
- Minor building maintenance such as changing light bulbs, painting, mowing pictures and etc.
- Ability to work well with others and promote a safe and clean working environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Lifting up to 50 lbs., some walking, pushing, and pulling on a regular basis. Exposure to dust, grease, noise and unpleasant but not hazardous odors. Occasional exposure to risk controlled by safety precautions. Frequency or severity is limited.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to follow instructions on chemicals used for cleaning and the use of proper safety procedures.
- Knowledge of equipment and tools used in the custodial field and minor maintenance.
- Perform work using stepladders of various sizes.
- Basic computer skills.
- Good communication skills.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Eighth grade education required; high school/GED preferred.
- Three years' basic experience in residential or commercial cleaning and maintenance work.
Minimum starting salary is $28,400 annually ($14.57 per hour). With additional experience pay increases to a maximum of $34,100.
