Title: College Coach

POSITION SUMMARY
This position will serve as a liaison between high schools within the service area of the College and Nashville State Community College, assisting with the student application and recruiting processes. This position supports a seamless transition of students from high school into post-secondary programs to earn a credential or degree and enter the workforce.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide student-centered service and guidance to prospective students regarding academic and workforce course offerings, career selection, college admission procedures and financial aid options. This includes assisting applicants through the application and financial aid process, as well as career exploration opportunities. Review student progress and track student use of College and community resources and supports. Collaborate with local organizations specializing in college access to provide students with additional support.

Assist College and Career Coaches and high school counselors with supporting students’ transition to Nashville State Community College. Coordinate with Welcome Center staff on recruiting efforts. Partner with the College’s Office of High School Initiatives and Dual Enrollment to support students as they transition to the College from the dual enrollment setting. Participate in college recruitment events including high school fairs, college fairs, campus tours, open houses and other community events. Develop and implement summer programs for students. This position will have a presence in designated high schools but will be based at the College’s White Bridge campus.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree

Two (2) years‘ customer service or related experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Prior work experience at a community college or in a K-12 setting

Comfortable with public speaking to groups of up to 100 people

Prior experience working with wide range of student populations, including first generation college students and underrepresented students

Bilingual fluency in English and Arabic or Spanish

Experience with Ellucian and CRMs, especially Banner and Slate

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Effective oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and take initiative. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Ability to work some weekend and evening hours and to travel to locations within the College’s service area. Ability to build partnerships and collaborate.

Rate of Pay: $44,148.00 - $55,186.00 depending on experience
