Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Health Professions and the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the Nursing Program. Administrative responsibilities include office management, budgetary oversight and equipment purchases. Additionally, the Nursing Program Coordinator recruits and advises students for the nursing program and teaches college-level nursing classes as needed.

Job Duties

• Coordinate scheduling of program related meetings.

• Provide office management

• Assist the Director of Nursing in updating and maintaining the Nursing Program’s Evaluation Plan, Program Outcomes, and Student Learning Outcomes.

• Assume teaching assignments related to lecture, lab, and clinical using safe, effective practice, as needed.

• Participate in planning, developing, revision and program development within the nursing curriculum.

• Perform periodic analysis of existing nursing courses options.

• Comply with polices of the College, TBR, Tennessee Board of Nursing, and ACEN.

• Work with Director of Nursing to maintain accreditation from ACEN.

• Work with Director of Nursing to maintain approval from the Tennessee Board of Nursing.

• Coordinate, plan and conduct student recruitment initiatives for the Nursing Program.

• Advise students in developing an Academic Plan for timely degree completion.

• Collaborate with faculty and student academic support staff on the delivery of support components.

• Promote communication with transfer institutions, professional associations, and other external constituents to support student success.

• Evaluate and monitors progress to achieve individual and unit goals and objectives.

• Originate and recommend requisitions for purchase of supplies and equipment and other uses of appropriate budgetary funds for the instructional program.

• Provide leadership when Director of Nursing is not available.

• Complete other assignments as directed by supervision. 

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited institution.
• Current and valid Tennessee or compact state license as a Registered Nurse.
• Recent professional practice in a health care facility or educational institution.
• Three years of experience in full-time teaching and/or administrative positions in an approved school of professional nursing
• Teaching experience with technology including online instructional tools and mobile devices.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with grant development and grant administration.
• Experience with curriculum development and implementation.
• Experience with data collection and analysis
• Conversational ability or fluency in a second language.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Technology Skills: MS Office Suite skills; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information system
• Current clinical competencies and nursing skills
• Ability to work with student populations who represent a wide range of academic ability
• Professional demeanor and communication, both orally and in writing
• Proficient functioning in a team-oriented environment
• Capable of managing time and workload to meet strategic planning, budgeting, and any other assigned deadlines
