Job Summary

This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Student Advocacy and Support. The Social Services Coordinator role is to manage and provide access to necessary supportive services in the Southwest student community, provide case management services as needed, and develop programs and resources that support the Southwest student population.

The services provided by the Social Services Coordinator include, but are not limited to, connecting students with housing, food, transportation concerns with resources on and off campus.

Must have dependable transportation to travel to all campuses/centers and the community as needed. The is an in-person role and any virtual hours will be left to the discretion of the department head.

Job Duties

  • Maintain weekly communication with assigned caseload with empathy and resourcefulness
  • Assessing the service needs of students and connecting them to the appropriate resources
  • Developing a resource directory of community agencies for quick reference
  • Assisting students with applications for benefits with community agencies
  • Monitoring community services/programs and staying up-to-date on any new services or those being altered/discontinued
  • Following up with students to assess services received
  • Responding to service/program concerns and resolving issues or matching students with better services/programming
  • Scheduling appointments for students, answering phones and tracking students’ service records
  • Oversee and maintain social service budget
  • Assisting with data collection, monitoring and reporting requirements related to social services
  • Assist in distributing perishable goods from faculty led community garden
  • Develop educational nutrition programming in conjunction with culinary arts program
  • Coordinate food drives each semester to aid in stocking food pantries
  • Preparing and maintaining accurate records and documentation
  • Overseeing programming and marketing of social services
  • Establishing and maintaining with community partners and agencies to assist students with needs
  • Recommending program modifications for continuous improvement of services
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Strong ethic and service skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Staying up-to-date with community services/programs.
  • Strong record keeping and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of personal information, such as contact information.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience of 1 year working in a Social Services case management role

Salary: Up to $45,000
