Job Summary
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Knoxville, is seeking a dedicated and passionate Part-Time Cosmetology Adjunct Instructor to join our team. This role is ideal for individuals who are enthusiastic about sharing their knowledge and skills in cosmetology with high school students in Oak Ridge High School. Job Duties
- % - The Cosmetology Adjunct Instructor will develop and deliver engaging lesson plans that cover both fundamental and advanced cosmetology techniques, providing hands-on instruction in areas such as hair cutting, coloring, styling, skin care, and nail care. The instructor will foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and growth, while also assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback to enhance learning outcomes. Additionally, the instructor will maintain accurate records of student grades and attendance, ensuring compliance with school policies and contributing to the overall academic integrity of the program. Collaboration with school staff will be essential to integrate cosmetology education into the broader curriculum, and the instructor will stay current with industry trends and best practices to ensure that students receive relevant and up-to-date training. - (Essential)
Minimum Qualifications
• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency
• Candidate must have an active Cosmetology License and Instructor course with three years of current work experience in the Cosmetology profession.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous teaching experience is a plus.

• Thorough understanding of cosmetology practices, including hair, skin, and nail care techniques, as well as current trends and best practices in the beauty industry.
• Ability to design and implement effective lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles, ensuring all students can engage with the material.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills for effectively conveying information, providing feedback, and engaging with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters participation and confidence.
• Proficiency in maintaining accurate records of grades, attendance, and student progress, along with managing classroom activities and resources efficiently.
• Problem-solving abilities to address classroom challenges and adapt instructional methods to meet the needs of individual students.
• Up-to-date knowledge of cosmetology trends, tools, and technologies, along with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Mentoring skills to inspire and guide students in their career aspirations within the cosmetology field, providing support and encouragement as they develop their skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding student information and records, ensuring compliance with school policies and regulations.
• Basic computer skills to facilitate lesson planning, record-keeping, and communication.
SALARY: Commensurate with Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines of $30 per hour.
