Job Duties

  • Community Engagement and Promotion: This position is responsible for promoting TCAT Knoxville’s educational programs within the community. This includes collaborating with businesses, workforce agencies, and educational organizations to highlight the essential role of technical education in the training and employment pipeline. By assessing and refreshing the college's branding, the coordinator ensures that TCAT Knoxville is recognized as a leading training provider in its service area. - (Essential)
  • Digital Strategy and Content Management: In this role, managing a comprehensive social media strategy is crucial. The Coordinator will create, edit, and post engaging content across various platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, ensuring that the college maintains a consistent and engaging voice aligned with the Tennessee Board of Regents system. The production of high-quality photos and videos of events, such as graduations and student activities, will also be a key responsibility. Additionally, the Coordinator will assist departments in updating or developing content for websites and publications, utilizing data to inform digital content strategies. This includes translating analytics into actionable recommendations for social media, content marketing, search engine optimization, and social advertising campaigns. - (Essential)
  • Compliance and Accreditation: The Coordinator must remain informed about best practices in higher education and social media to ensure that all marketing activities comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Tennessee Board of Regents policies. Maintaining compliance with accreditation requirements from the Council on Occupational Education is also essential, as is assisting with accreditation and advisory board efforts for the college and its programs. - (Essential)
  • Marketing Campaigns and Brand Development: The Coordinator will develop, implement, and maintain a cohesive marketing, public relations, and communications strategy to elevate TCAT Knoxville's profile. This includes executing target marketing campaigns and archiving all marketing and publicity materials. The management of the college's photo and video galleries will ensure that visual content is effectively utilized across digital channels and in print. Regular attendance at training sessions and professional development opportunities is expected to keep current with industry standards and trends. The coordinator will also assist in updating annual publications and may perform additional duties as assigned. - (Essential)
  • Professional Development: Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current methodologies; attend scheduled college and department professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations. - (Essential)
  • Service to the College and Community: Assist in the recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned; participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes; support and participate in the College’s decision-making processes; attend convocation and commencement exercises and participate in mandatory college programs; develop and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with colleagues; work to meet and exceed COE standards. Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established guidelines of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and follow TBR policies. The Counselor/Recruiter will ensure compliance with admission, registration, and financial aid regulations and policies to uphold institutional integrity and support student success. - (Essential)
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or administration, on and off campus. Demonstrate a willingness to work extra hours as needed to cover College events. Travel between campuses will be required, along with some additional travel for events and training. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in public relations, communications, marketing, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in Associated Press style guidelines to ensure high-quality content creation.
• Strong technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and experience with audio/visual equipment and software.
• A proven work ethic demonstrated through effective decision-making, punctual reporting, and the ability to oversee multiple projects while engaging collaboratively with students, faculty, industry partners, and employers.
• Exceptional leadership qualities, along with strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, complemented by excellent organizational abilities.
• A deep passion for education and a commitment to empowering students in achieving their academic, professional, and personal aspirations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a marketing or public relations office, showcasing the ability to develop and implement effective communication strategies.
• Professional experience in higher education, providing insight into the unique challenges and opportunities within the academic environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORKING CONDITIONS
This position often involves a combination of the following potential physical demands:

  • Sedentary desk work - Sitting for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks, reading, writing, etc.
  • Light physical activity - Walking around campus, standing for meetings or interactions, light lifting/carrying of files or supplies.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying - Moving boxes, equipment, or other items that may weigh up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to navigate campus environments - Walking up/downstairs, traversing uneven surfaces, etc.

SALARY: Commensurate with education and experience according to Tennessee Board of Regents guidelines within the ranges of $51,251 - $66,632.
