POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

TITLE:                                                            Student Services Assistant

CLASSIFICATION:                                         Part-Time, Non-exempt

DIRECT SUPERVISION FROM:                      Coordinator Financial Aid             

OFFICE LOCATION(S):                                  Franklin County Campus, 925 Dinah Shore Blvd., Winchester, TN 37398

HOURS:                                                          Monday –Friday 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. (1/2 hr. unpaid lunch)

                                                                     (29 hrs./wk. max)

HOURLY WAGE:                                             $18.00

FUNCTION OF THE JOB:

Under the general supervision of the Financial Aid Coordinator, the Student Services Assistant serves as the primary point of contact for students by answering frequently asked questions (FAQs) and helping students navigate the student onboarding process. He/she will also answer incoming calls, relay messages, greet and direct campus visitors, and provide clerical support to faculty and staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide answers to frequently asked questions (FAQs) in person, by phone, email, and virtual contact.
  • Assist students in navigating the student onboarding process, consistently educating them on the importance of checking student email and following provided instructions to complete requirements found in the student portal.
  • Answer calls, relay messages, greet and assist visitors.
  • Assist with tours and coordination of campus events, food drives, student activities, etc.
  • Provide support to staff and faculty, including clerical needs and basic printer/computer support.
  • Ensure that informational messages are fresh and engaging on indoor and outdoor displays.
  • Assist employees with reserving campus vehicles.
  • Scan and email delivery receipts/packing slips, invoices to accounts payable.
  • Prepare reports and communications and track documents as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.

MINIMUM ACCEPTABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (HiSET acceptable) and approved work experience of at least one year.
  • Ability to effectively utilize Microsoft Office programs and other common software program.
  • Strong customer service skills, effective oral and written communication, excellent problem-solving, organizational, and planning skills.
  • Technical diploma or higher with an emphasis in Administrative Office Technology or related area in industry or higher education environment preferred.
  • Ability to deal tactfully with the public and co-workers.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment in evaluating situations and making decisions.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly, concisely, and convincingly.
  • Ability to move throughout the facility numerous times during the shift.

GENERAL INFORMATION:  

Background checks will be completed on all new hires. The selected candidate will be asked to sign a background release authorizing TCAT-Shelbyville to complete a background check, which includes the following: Sex Offender Registry, Driving History, County Criminal, National Criminal Database, Federal Criminal, and Sanctions and Disciplinary Database.
