Job Title: Financial Aid Coordinator
Reports To: Student Services Coordinator
Campus Locations: Murfreesboro and Smyrna Campuses
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Murfreesboro is accepting applications for the position of Financial Aid Coordinator. Under the general supervision of the Student Services Coordinator, the Financial Aid Coordinator assists with the administration, coordination, and delivery of federal, state, and institutional student financial aid programs. The position supports compliance with all applicable regulations and ensures accurate and timely processing of student aid. The Financial Aid Coordinator provides exceptional customer service to students and families while assisting in the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and policies.
- Evaluate and verify student financial aid applications, including completion of the verification process and resolution of conflicting information.
- Determine student eligibility for financial aid awards based on federal and state regulations and institutional policies.
- Prepare and process award packages for eligible students in the Banner Student Information System.
- Assist with federal and state reporting, including reconciliation and audit preparation.
- Advise students and parents on the financial aid process, eligibility requirements, deadlines, and satisfactory academic progress (SAP).
- Coordinate communication regarding financial aid policies, deadlines, and requirements via email, website, and other college communication channels.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial aid records and ensure compliance with FERPA and institutional data management standards.
- Participate in financial aid workshops, orientations, and outreach events to promote student awareness of available financial resources.
- Support the Student Services Coordinator in monitoring and implementing federal and state regulatory updates and policy changes.
- Maintain proficiency with financial aid systems, databases, and electronic processes (e.g., COD, EdConnect, TSAC, NSLDS).
- Serves as the primary School Certifying Official for Veteran Services (VA).
- Provide supervision or training to Financial Aid Support personnel as assigned.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Student Services Coordinator or designee.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Higher Education Administration, or related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid administration, higher education, or related financial services.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Title IV federal and state financial aid programs.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn Banner or similar student information systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgment.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) institution or technical college system.
- Proficiency with Ellucian Banner Financial Aid module, COD, NSLDS, and TSAC systems.
- Knowledge of current federal and state financial aid regulations, including Return of Title IV (R2T4), verification, and reconciliation procedures.
- Supervisory or training experience in an educational or administrative office setting.

Working Conditions:
- Standard office environment located on the Murfreesboro and/or Smyrna campuses.
- Frequent interaction with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required during peak registration and audit periods.
SALARY: This is an exempt position. Salary commensurate with qualifications, education, experience and in accordance with the guidelines established by the Tennessee Board of Regents.
