Title: Student Services Specialist I, Dickson and Humphreys County Campuses
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for assisting continuing, new and prospective students with routine and non-routine admissions, records, financial aid and student account services questions and processes; including, but not limited to admissions application completion, testing, FAFSA completion, billing and payments.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as the first point of contact for guests by greeting and assisting new, current and prospective students. Provides general information regarding admissions, financial aid, academic programs, and student records to prospective students, faculty, staff, and the general public, in person, by phone over Zoom/Teams, and via email. Provides student-centered services via various platforms while maintaining a professional and congenial demeanor. As a student account services representative, collects various payments; prepares and delivers bank deposits and Daily Cash Reports (DCR) using institutional and departmental software and following compliance procedures. Assesses student tuition charges and communicates related information to students. Verifies changes, payments and adjustments. Processes student requests related to enrollment services.
Assists students with using computer kiosks for admissions and financial aid services, including helping with scheduling Welcome Center appointments and navigating myNSCC. Helps facilitate resolution of student issues by listening to and understanding their concerns and following appropriate procedures or protocols for resolution. Manages incoming documents. Accepts student requests, collects documentation and forms; processing, as appropriate and distributing to appropriate offices. Performs routine clerical tasks, including filing, photocopying and faxing. Collects and processes incoming mail and coordinates mail delivery to and from other campuses. Collaborates in evaluating creative approaches to promote/advertise NSCC to prospective students. Oversees student workers assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma
Minimum two years’ customer service experience
Proficiency in basic computer software
Excellent oral and written communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate’s degree or higher
Two years’ experience working in higher education
Multilingual, preferably in Spanish and/or Arabic
Experience with Banner
General knowledge of student services policies and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Intermediate to advanced computer skills. Aptitude for analyzing student questions and requests. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. The ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. Aptitude for analyzing student questions and requests to ensure proper guidance is given. Ability to work some weekends and evening hours as required.

Rate of Pay: $31,239.00 - $37,479.00 depending on experience
