Job Summary: Develop courses, lessons, exercises and examinations in the discipline of Art. Remain current within field of assigned instruction, related occupational areas and technologies; acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current instructional methodologies and materials; attend scheduled college, divisional, professional development and in-service activities; support related professional organizations by attending meetings and serving as officers; participate in annual faculty evaluation process.

9-month, tenure-track position in Art, with duties that may include teaching the following: Painting 1 and 2, Drawing 1 and 2, Intro to Art and/or Art History sequence.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

  • Develop, adapt, and improve programs and services in response to the needs of changing environments, populations served, and evolving institutional priorities
  • Provide educational opportunities and experiences to students in leadership, social responsibility, intercultural understanding, and global citizenship
  • Utilize classroom and lab instruction, student assessment mechanisms, and classroom management techniques to provide an engaged learning experience to students
  • Ensure that each student is presented with the material to successfully meet the learning objectives of each course within the program of study
  • Ensure that instructional materials and equipment are ready for student use, sufficient in quantity, are properly maintained and in working order prior to class time
  • Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Organizational Culture and Inclusive Practices

  • Maintain a solid understanding of College goals and priorities as they relate to the students’ experience
  • Participate in ongoing faculty assessment and professional development activities to ensure active and engaged classroom experience for all students
  • Actively participate in meetings, review and analyze assessment data, compile reports, and meet academic and administrative deadlines
  • Ensure campus compliance with all federal, state, and regulatory bodies’ guidelines, along with internal policies of the College

Holistic Student Support

  • Model compassionate professionalism as an example to students
  • Recognize that students have diverse learning styles and needs. Apply established instructional strategies to support differentiated learning and ensure all students can actively engage with course concepts and activities.
  • Integrate programs, activities, and initiatives to optimize the students’ experience
  • Introduce students to a variety of academic resources—such as tutoring, educational apps, study groups, and online tools—and encourage them to explore new strategies that support their growth as lifelong learners.
  • Monitor student progress to promote student success
  • Provide counseling resources as needed

Minimum Required Qualifications: MFA in Art

Special requirements and conditions

The preferred applicant will possess the MFA with a specialty in painting or drawing, an active exhibition of works, and a documented record of community college teaching experience.  Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Assistant Professor: $ 46,211 - $ 57,764
Instructor: $ 41,555 - $ 50,900
