Title: 2nd Shift Custodian
Job Summary
Full-time position (37.5 hours per week) with excellent benefits. Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining assigned facilities, including but not limited to floor maintenance (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, stripping, waxing, and polishing floors) . The 2nd Shift is scheduled Monday-Friday, 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m. with a 1 hour meal break.
Job Duties
- Sanitizing classrooms, doorknobs, desks, chairs, stairwell hand rails, and water fountains in the buildings located on main JSCC campus using EPA approved chemicals.
- Cleaning classrooms and restrooms using the proper chemicals.
- Maintaining the floors in buildings on JSCC’s main campus by sweeping, mopping, stripping, waxing, and buffing.
- Moving furniture and set-ups/take downs including office moves, and moving unwanted furniture to surplus area or disposing of damaged furniture.
- Clean blinds, walls, and baseboards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma (or equivalent) and one-year minimum prior custodial work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of standard cleaning chemicals and power machinery; strong attention to detail.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Good interpersonal and public relations communication skills; ability to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills.
• Reasoning ability required in following instructions and following guidelines.
• Basic knowledge of cleaning equipment and methods required.
• Must have physical ability to perform essential job duties.
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
•Standing for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
•Walking throughout the facility.
•Bending and stooping to clean low surfaces.
•Twisting and reaching overhead for cleaning tasks.
•Kneeling for floor-level work.
•Climbing ladders or step stools to access high areas.
•Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs (supplies, equipment).
•Pushing and pulling carts, vacuums, and other cleaning equipment.
•Manual dexterity for handling tools and cleaning materials.
•Repetitive motions such as mopping, sweeping, and wiping
Pay Rate: $26,875 - $32,250 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
