POSITION SUMMARY

Monitor, supervise, and coordinate accounting activities for assigned accounts. Ensure timely billing, drawdowns, and payments; monitor budgets and resolve overspent accounts; review expenditures for allowability, allocability, and compliance with federal, state, local, and private funding regulations; and accurately code revenue and expenses in accordance with institutional policies and sponsor requirements. Collaborate with internal contacts and departmental staff to support effective financial stewardship of assigned accounts.

FISCAL STEWARDSHIP

  • Reconcile and balance assigned accounts on a regular basis, including preparation of journal entries as needed; review expenditures for allowability, allocability, and compliance with sponsor and institutional requirements; prepare and submit financial reports for internal review and approval; complete and submit required financial reports to external sponsors, including federal, state, local, and private funding agencies; ensure timely billing and monitor accounts receivable to support accurate and compliant account management
  • Coordinate budget revisions for assigned accounts and provide accurate financial information and documentation for periodic budget submissions in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist in the review of programmatic narratives and budgets for new funding applications; review detailed budget for expenditure reasonableness, allowability and allocability with sponsor and institutional guidelines

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND WORK CHARACTERISTICS

  • Knowledge of basic accounting theory and practice
  • Interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with internal and external contacts
  • Proficiency with financial systems to record, analyze, and report financial data; experience with higher education financial systems is preferred but not required
  • Strong proficiency in spreadsheet software to perform reconciliations, analyze financial information, and prepare reports
  • Skills in interpreting and explaining complex contractual terms, policies and procedures
  • Skills in oral and written communication
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills
  • Ability to function in a manner that reflects the values of the College

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education and training: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
  • Work Experience: Three years of accounting experience 

Salary Range: $53,429 - $66,786
