POSITION SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Department Head and Dean of the Business Division, the full‑time faculty member’s primary responsibility is the instruction of assigned Business classes. Courses may be scheduled during the day or evening, delivered in various formats (virtual, online, hybrid, on-campus), and may be taught at multiple locations, including local high schools.

The faculty member is expected to:
• Facilitate the instructional process
• Evaluate students and monitor progress
• Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS)
• Assign mid‑term and final grades
• Maintain attendance and grade records
• Advise students regarding academic preparation and career goals
• Support student retention
• Maintain required classroom and office hours

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

Course and Curriculum Development:
• Select texts, supplemental documents, supplies, and other resources, including Open Educational Resources (OER)
• Develop supplemental instructional materials
• Use current technology in preparation, creation, and delivery of instruction
• Create and revise courses and/or curricula as needed
• Maintain updated course syllabi

Professional Growth:
• Remain current in the instructional field and related occupational areas
• Stay informed about current instructional methodologies and materials
• Attend scheduled college, divisional, and professional development activities
• Participate in the annual faculty evaluation process

Service to Students:
• Assist in recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation of potential students
• Assist with placement activities for employment and/or transfer to four‑year institutions
• Support student activities

Service to the College and Community:
• Assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned
• Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes
• Serve on college, divisional, or departmental committees, organizations, and task forces
• Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues
• Strengthen relationships between the college and community through outreach activities

Academic Advising

• Support the Academic Advising Center
• Stay current with relevant Tennessee Transfer Pathways
• Participate in regular reviews of Tennessee Transfer Pathways
• Assist with college‑wide advising as needed

Student Support

• Be familiar with student support services, including Admissions and Records, Enrollment Services, High School Programs, Recruiting and Orientation, Career Services, Student Support Center, Tutoring Services, Student Conduct, Student Life, Adult Student Services, and the Center for Access and Disability Services
• Promote student recruitment and retention

Fiscal Stewardship

• Support the responsible fiscal stewardship of funds allocated to the Business Division

Organizational Culture

• Maintain an office environment that is open, inviting, and professional

Perform other job‑related duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
• Master’s degree in Business Administration from a regionally accredited institution OR
• Master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Business

Preferred:
• Doctoral degree in Business
• Community college teaching experience
• Experience teaching Business courses

Projected Salary Range:

Instructor: $41,555 - $50,900

Commensurate with experience and aligned with Tennessee Board of Regents salary guidelines.
