Position Overview: The Andrews Reading and Writing Center Coordinator works within the Academic Success Center (ASC) to manage personnel and resources devoted to reading and writing tutoring for students at all levels. The Coordinator, reporting to the ASC Director, is a key player in supporting the success and persistence of all students.

      • Assist in recruitment, selection, orientation, and evaluation of potential student employees
      • Support student activities.

      • Assist in recruitment and selection of college personnel as assigned
      • Participate in CRLA certification, assessment, and performance funding processes
      • Support and participate in college/division/department committees, organizations and/or task forces to make recommendations in the College’s decision-making processes
      • Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues; strengthen relationships between the college and the community through community outreach activities
      • Support the Academic Advising Center
  • Support the ASC Director in the implementation and refinement of practices focused on learning assistance, tutoring, and peer education, with a focus on reading and writing.
  • Support the ASC Director in planning and coordinating proactive programming and innovative strategies to enhance student learning.
  • Manage supplemental instruction, tutoring, and the Testing Center as needed.
  • Work closely with faculty and staff across divisions to support reading and writing learning.

2. Holistic Student Support and Outreach

  • Remains available, responsive, and approachable while working with learning assistants and/or students via all tutoring modalities.
  • Creates an environment that is open and encouraging to all students.
  • Assist with events and workshops to support students in extra-disciplinary and co-curricular activities and skills.
  • Promote the Andrews Reading and Writing Center, the Academic Success Center, and other available resources.
  • Update websites and documents, and distribute information relating to the hours, services, and policies of the Andrews Reading and Writing Center.

3. Organizational Culture

  • Directly manage learning assistants, embedded learning assistants, and supplemental instruction related to reading and writing.
  • Maintain the schedule of professional tutors and student workers to include fielding tutor cancellations, finding substitute tutors, and monitoring student workers.
  • Recruit and develop learning assistants for reading and writing.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure seamless student support and services.
  • Perform activities to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of the Andrews Reading and Writing Center.

4. Program Innovation

  • Assist with the development and routine operations of the ASC.
  • Assist in researching, maintaining, and organizing appropriate technology for the ASC.
  • Monitor program effectiveness through periodic assessments, making adaptive changes when necessary.

5. Fiscal Stewardship

  • Assist in the management of budgets, ensuring prudent resource allocation and accurate reporting.
  • Assist with CRM (Slate) workflow management and data reporting to support budget monitoring, service documentation, and compliance with institutional and grant-funded initiatives.
  • Complete learning assistant reports for the Dean of Academic Success.
  • Ensure compliance with both college standards and accrediting agency policies.

Qualifications:

An earned Master’s degree in English from a regionally accredited institution or a Master’s degree in another qualifying field with 18 graduate semester hours in English. Proven record of accomplishment of progressively increasing leadership roles and responsibilities. Demonstrated expertise in contemporary best practices in learning assistance. Exceptional interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with computers and other forms of technology utilized in providing high-quality instruction and the understanding and successful use of learning technology. A passion for student success.

Office Duties:

Maintain regular office hours in person, assist with phone calls and office work as needed, and attend staff meetings.  Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the department leadership and in conjunction with the Division of Academic affairs initiatives.

Salary Range: $44,156 - $55,196
