Title: Grounds Worker
Job Summary
This is a full-time position working under the general supervision of the Grounds Manager or designee. The Grounds Worker is responsible for the maintenance and improvements of campus grounds, landscaping, streets, and walks.
Job Duties
- Maintenance of campus grounds, including mowing, trimming, pruning, weeding, cleaning, debris removal, and picking up trash.
- Operate various types of commercial equipment (i.e., mowers, tractors, backhoes, and forklifts).
- Maintenance of streets, parking lots, and walks; installing traffic signs and maintenance of ponds.
- Cultivate, toe trench, and mulch landscape plantings, shrubs, and trees.
- Mix and apply herbicides, insecticides, and fertilizers with the supervision of the Grounds Manager.
- Empty outside trash receptacles and pick up trash and debris on campus grounds.
- Cleaning of roadways, parking lots, sidewalks, and building entrances during weather emergencies affecting normal campus operations (i.e., snow removal, debris removal).
- Clean and properly maintain equipment and tools.
- Assist in the delivery of all campus incoming freight and log daily freight information.
- Office moves and event setups.
- May perform other work as required.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent
• 1+ years’ experience
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with grounds maintenance and landscaping
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Customer service, time management, and organizational skills.
• Knowledge of grounds maintenance and landscape methods.
• Interpersonal and public relations communication skills; ability to communicate effectively using written and verbal skills.
• Ability to move throughout the campus and lift up to 50-75 lbs.
• Operate commercial lawn equipment
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
Working conditions require the ability to work outdoors in temperature extremes with frequent flying debris and hazardous chemicals using potentially hazardous equipment, to perform strenuous tasks, with high noise levels, and the ability to stand, lift, carry, bend, walk, climb, and crawl.
Pay Rate: $30,000 - $32,250 (Annual salary depending on eligible experience, which is defined by the current compensation plan.)
