Job Title: Instructor of Respiratory Care

Hiring Salary Range: $47,996 - $57,726 

Campus Location: Walters State Community College - Niswonger Campus - Greeneville (Employees are assigned to a “home” location but may occasionally or regularly be required to work at other WSCC locations.)

Job Purpose: To provide instructional assistance to the Respiratory Therapy Program, function as a full-time faculty member, and actualize the goals/standards of the program.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Provide classroom and clinical instruction for the program using computer mediated classroom technology including use existing programmatic material within the program curriculum, provide for indirect supervision of volunteer clinical faculty, and direct clinical supervision teaching and evaluating the students. 
  • Assist Program Director in the performance of yearly programmatic evaluation. 
  • Function as a full-time faculty member within the program by carrying an appropriate teaching load. 
  • Establish an ongoing partnership relations with clinical facilities 
  • Interface with students, department, division, college and students in person and using computer technology. 
  • Collaborative teaching with a team of peers. 
  • Flexibility to work evening, weekends and at all off-campus sites. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in an area of Respiratory Care or related field of study.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (Current RRT credential) by the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
  • Holds current Tennessee license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
  • Working knowledge of computer software and standard office equipment, various academic software, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous teaching experience in Respiratory Care. As faculty or as a clinical instructor/preceptor.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s Degree in a related field of study.
  • Two (2) years teaching experience

Leadership & Supervisory: This position has no supervisory responsibilities, but is expected to participate as part of a team in conjunction with other Respiratory Care faculty and as a member of the Health Programs division.

Environment & Working Conditions: Office environment is temperature controlled with occasional fluctuations, well lit, and free from loud noises and unnecessary interruptions. When in hospitals, exposure to disease could be potentially hazardous. Exposure to bodily fluids can occasionally occur.

  • Large amounts of time spent looking at computer monitors could lead to some eye strain, stress, or headache issues.
  • Repetitive stress injuries could occur.
  • Travel to local areas may be required.
