Job Summary
This is a full-time, grant funded position in the Child Care department. The Child Care Aide 2 works under close supervision of the Assistant Director, and Lead Teacher. The Child Care Aide 2 is responsible for implementing program, goals and classroom objectives, and performing related work as required for children six (6) weeks to five (5) years old.
Job Duties
- Direct activities for children in the program.
- Supervise large and small groups of children.
- Assist children with self-help skills.
- Work with individual children on specific tasks.
- Develop and plan daily activities.
- Assists with the preparation and presentation of educational materials.
- Regularly, record, evaluate, assess and update children’s class attendance, behavior, development, etc.
- Complete and keep current all required certifications and training.
- Attend professional development seminars and parent related activities.
- Assist with serving meals and snacks.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Pass background check
- Obtain a physical prior to employment
- Applicants are required to obtain CDA within 6 months
Preferred Qualifications
- Child Development Associate (CDA) Credential/Early Childhood Certificate/ 18 Credit Hours of Early Childhood Courses
- Knowledge of recreational activities associates with creative play
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of instructional methods, materials and program operations for six (6) to five (5) years.
- Knowledge of psychological and biological needs of children.
- Ability to make decisions both within or without guidance or established procedure.
- Ability to react quickly and calmly in stressful situations.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with the public, children and other employees
Physical Demands / Working Conditions
- Ability to lift children 40 pounds, if needed.
