Job Summary

The Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump is accepting applications for the full-time position of Diesel-Powered Equipment Technology Instructor in the Diesel-Powered Equipment Technology program in Parsons, TN.

Job Duties

    

• Instruct students through lectures, demonstrations, simulation, and/or audio-visual aids to

           prepare

            them to enter the heavy equipment operation profession.

        • Administer assessments to evaluate student progress.

        • Maintain confidential student academic records and submit reports related to the program (i.e.,

           grades, attendance, discipline, etc.).

        • Develop, plan and prepare a complete progressive course of study, syllabi, lesson plans,

           assignment and instructional aids, and keep these revised and up to date to meet the

            requirements of industry.

        • Conduct and/or attend meetings, day and/or evening, with program stakeholders.

        • Participate in recruitment of students; Assist with student placement and student follow-up.

        • Attend workshops and/or other training programs to remain current in the field. Overnight travel

           may be required.

        • Motivation, conduct, safety, discipline, and appearance of student during the time he/she is on

           the institution campus are also duties of the instructor. • Ensure compliance with all TBR,

           institutional, state, and federal requirements.

       • Perform other duties as may be assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalency. Associate Degree preferred.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in the diesel field.
• Must possess a high degree of knowledge of all areas involved in the diesel field to include heavy equipment and farm machinery.
• Must possess a current Master ASE Medium/Heavy Duty Truck Certification or the ability to become certified within twelve (12) calendar months.
• Must commit to remain Master Certified and maintain program accreditation.
• ASE Certification in Automotive Technology a plus.
• Strong hands-on technical background in preventative maintenance, diesel engines, electrical/electronics, brakes, drive train, suspension and steering, and heating-ventilation and air-conditioning.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

The Diesel-Powered Equipment Technology Instructor is responsible for providing individualized classroom and lab instruction to students. The instructor must monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students’ progress, maintain student records in the college’s student records management software, maintain appropriate documentation, and submit timely reports. The instructor must also maintain good public relations with related business and industry, maintain an active advisory committee, cooperate with outside agencies and supervise and follow-up on students participating in cooperative education.

Other duties include curriculum development, student recordkeeping, and student recruitment, placement, follow-up of program graduates, participation in professional development activities, and participation in student organizations. Some travel is required.
