Title: Testing Proctor - Adult Education

Job Summary
Reporting to the Program Director of Adult Education, the Testing Proctor provides instructional, registration, and intake orientation-related services for potential and current students and faculty on a daily basis. The position will administer and ensure secure testing across various locations. In addition, this position provides a variety of clerical duties in support of the Adult Education program.
Job Duties
- Verify the identity and eligibility of each HiSET test taker.
- Direct test takers to their specific seats, distribute and collect test books to and from each test taker individually.
- Verify that no one, including test personnel, is using a cell phone during the test administration.
- Answer general (procedural) questions.
- Observe test takers during testing sessions to guard against improper conduct and to establish that every test taker is working on the appropriate section of the test. Check to ensure that test takers are gridding their answers properly and NOT in the test book.
- Check restrooms immediately after test begins, and periodically thereafter, to be sure that the rooms contain no testing aids (books, notes, writings on towels or walls).
- Monitor and account for test materials throughout testing session.
- Clear the memory of each calculator (if applicable) before dismissing test takers to confirm that no test content is being removed or concealed.
- Verify that prohibited devices and testing aids are not being used in the test center, during the administration, and during any breaks.
- Maintain testing surveillance logs, seating charts, and other documentation as required.
- Maintain the security of all testing materials:
- Prepare a written inventory of all secure testing materials used during each test administration.
- Maintain the inventory documentation in the permanent secure store area.
- Conduct testing session in accordance with ETS policies and procedures as set forth in the Program manual and any supplemental memoranda from ETS.
- Control testing session by following all ETS procedures for conducting a testing session under standard conditions or, when appropriate, with accommodations for test takers with disabilities or health-related needs.
- Perform general office duties; filing, faxing and disbursement of administrative, and functional materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or HSE (High school equivalency) required
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Speak and read English fluently
• Minimum of 6 months of progressive professional work history related to customer service or within an office setting. History should include organizational skills, multi-tasking, and the ability to meet deadlines.
• Minimum of 6 months of experience using data entry software.
• Demonstrated ability to use general office equipment (fax, copy, scanner, multi-phone system, etc.)
• Microsoft Office Skills - Word, Excel, and/or Outlook.
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills (application documents will be reviewed for accuracy, and oral communication skills will be evaluated at the time of the interview).
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a testing environment or other security systems.
• Fluent in MS Outlook for e-mail communications and scheduling.
• Previous work history of maintaining class, staff, and event schedules.
• Experience with setup and maintenance of paper and electronic filing systems.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Technology Skills: MS Office suite; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
