Position Summary 

The Anatomy & Physiology Laboratory Technician ensures the smooth operation of laboratory environments across multiple schedules, formats, and locations. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining laboratory materials, models, specimens, equipment, and facilities; managing inventory and chemical/biological supplies; supporting safe handling and disposal of regulated materials; and performing routine equipment maintenance. The Technician maintains required laboratory, office, and preparation hours, oversees lab readiness, and ensures accurate documentation related to supplies, equipment usage, and safety compliance to support efficient and safe laboratory operations. Because laboratory activities may occur across multiple class schedules and campus locations, occasional early morning, evening, or adjusted work hours may be required to support instructional needs and ensure laboratory readiness.

Essential Functions

Teaching Excellence and Program Innovation

Serve as a member of the Science Department within the Math and Sciences Division in support of the College’s Strategic Plan. In this role, the staff member is responsible for the following:

Course and Curriculum Support

  • Utilize current technologies to support the preparation of laboratory and course-related materials for face-to-face, hybrid, virtual, or online delivery as needed.
  • Consult with department faculty to support the alignment of laboratory components with established learning outcomes.

Professional Growth  

  • Remain current in the relevant scientific field, associated occupational areas, and emerging technologies.
  • Acquire, maintain, and apply knowledge of current academic practices, methodologies, and materials.
  • Attend scheduled college, divisional, and departmental professional development and in-service activities and participate in the annual evaluation process.
  • Support related professional organizations by attending meetings and/or serving in leadership or advisory roles.

Service to Students 

  • Prepare materials and equipment for hands-on student use in laboratory settings.
  • Demonstrate proper use and safe handling of laboratory equipment and resources.
  • Supervise and support student workers.
  • Respect student rights and promote access to educational opportunities.
  • Support and participate in student activities.

Service to the College and Community:  

  • Prepare, maintain, and inventory laboratory supplies, equipment, and facilities.
  • Participate in accreditation, assessment, and performance funding processes.
  • Support and participate in college, division, and department committees, organizations, and task forces contributing to institutional decision-making.
  • Provide input into the preparation of semester schedules and departmental budgets.
  • Participate in college programs and initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues.
  • Strengthening relationships between the college and the community through outreach and engagement activities
  • Attend required college, division, and department meetings.

Holistic Student Support 

  • Demonstrate familiarity with student support services and institutional units that assist students outside of instructional settings, including Admissions and Records, Enrollment Services, High School Programs, Recruiting and Orientation, Career Services, Student Support Center, Tutoring Services, Student Conduct, Student Life, Adult Student Services, and the Center for Access and Disability Services
  • Ensure that services and activities are accessible and aligned with college policies, procedures, and applicable regulations.
  • Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment, onboarding, and retention initiatives.

Fiscal Stewardship 

  • Supports the fiscal stewardship of the funds allocated to the Science Department within the Math and Sciences Division 

Organizational Culture 

  • Supports the College’s goals related to organizational culture and a positive work environment and contributes to the Math and Sciences Division’s use of effective practices in providing programs and services for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Maintains an office environment that is welcoming, well‑organized, and professional.
  • Works collaboratively with Science department faculty and staff

Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications: 

An earned Bachelor’s degree with 30 semester hours in Biology, Clinical Lab Science, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

 Preferred Qualifications:

Lab preparation experience, including preparing and maintaining media and bacterial cultures; experience using and maintaining microscopes and autoclaves; inventory and ordering experience; clinical lab employment experience.

Salary Range: $36,675 - $45,844
