Position Summary: The MOSAIC coordinator will support the execution of the Pellissippi State’s comprehensive strategic plan through the coordination and assessment of programming aimed at student matriculation and retention as outline the College’s RCCE Grant application. The MOSAIC Coordinator plans, implements, and assesses Title III-funded programming that supports the persistence, retention, credit accumulation, belonging, and career development of first-generation students. Working with the MOSAIC Program Lead and Title III Project Director, the coordinator provides individualized success coaching to an assigned caseload, leads student ambassador and study-away programming, coordinates services with campus and community partners, and maintains the documentation and reporting required for program management and Title III compliance.
Essential Functions:
40% Manage an assigned caseload of approximately 200 first-generation students and provide individualized success coaching through proactive outreach, scheduled check-ins, student-initiated appointments, and timely follow-up. Assess each student’s academic and nonacademic needs, help students navigate College processes, connect them with appropriate resources, and monitor their progress toward persistence and completion.
- Assist with coordinating the expansion and execution of the MOSAIC initiative, focusing on coordinating programs to maximize the retention of first-gen and low-income and Pellissippi Students.
- Document student outreach, coaching sessions, referrals, services provided, follow-up actions, and other substantive interactions accurately and promptly in Navigate or another designated College system. Maintain complete caseload records that support continuity of service, program assessment, and required reporting.
- Provide direct support, training, orientation, and mentoring for MOSAIC student ambassadors. Assist students in adjusting to college life by ensuring they are connected to Pellissippi student services. Provide regular check-ins with students to assess how they are adapting to college and address any concerns that may arise.
- Assist students in identifying their personal support system: faculty/staff/peer mentor, services, resources, and referrals.
- Assist students with core academic and support processes (admissions, advising, financial aid, scholarships, major/degree information, etc.) and make appropriate referrals.
- Conduct topical workshops (Small group, In-class, and Virtual)
- Conduct 1:1 Coaching sessions (In-person and Virtual)
20% Plan, organize, execute, and assess MOSAIC study-away, leadership development, and career-immersion experiences. Coordinate with appropriate campus partners and external organizations to manage student recruitment and preparation, program itineraries, travel logistics, required documentation, communication, and post-program assessment. Work with Career Development and other partners to connect these experiences with students’ academic, transfer, leadership, and career goals.
This role collaborates closely with departments such as Enrollment Services, Start Strong Center, Stay Strong Center, Career Development, and IEAP to utilize resources to ensure that all activities, programs, and resources align with Pellissippi State Community College's mission and contribute to the overall success of the Title III grant objectives.
- Organize MOSAIC Student Ambassadors' participation in leadership opportunities and events. Collaborate with other staff and student leaders to offer opportunities for leadership and growth.
- Maintain awareness of all college academic programs and resources.
- Collaborate with Career Development to assist students in exploring career paths and in connecting students with employers or training programs for internships.
20% Assist in the implementation of a comprehensive, integrated first-year-experience. Collaborate with the Title III project staff to assess the effectiveness of MOSAIC interventions. Prepare regular MOSAIC program reports at established intervals, summarizing student outreach, coaching engagement, program participation, persistence, retention, credit accumulation, and other required measures. Compile and validate program data and narrative documentation for Title III reporting, institutional reporting, and external evaluation in coordination with the MOSAIC Program Lead, Title III Project Director, and appropriate institutional data partners. Use data-driven insights to refine and enhance MOSAIC strategies continuously. Identify data needs, gaps, and required metrics based on the grant's objectives and deliverables. Adhere to data collection, storage, and dissemination practices per federal regulations, institutional policies, and any other relevant guidelines. Effectively utilize technology tools such as Banner, Argos, 25Live, Navigate, and Pelli-Biz to support the operational needs of the Title III project related to overall data management efforts.
15% Support in the delivery of a new student orientations and transitional programming. Specifically, assist with the administration of new student onboarding through contextualized orientation sessions and welcome events to the extent that the incumbent attends all such programs, whether on campuses or in the community. Onboard, train, schedule, mentor, and evaluate MOSAIC student ambassadors. Coordinate their participation in peer mentoring, pop-up coaching, campus events, outreach campaigns, campus tours, and leadership-development activities. Maintain appropriate records of ambassador assignments, participation, and student engagement.
5% Serve on College committees as assigned; participate in relevant professional organizations, and professional development activities that enhance the College mission. Some travel related to job duties across the region and state. Other duties as assigned to fulfill the strategic priorities and mission of the College.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree required
A minimum of two years’ experience in higher education OR postsecondary access with at least one year experience in one of the following:
- College recruitment
- Advising
- Event planning
- Financial aid
- Student/family support
- College/Career access
- Or other related higher education or postsecondary access experience
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to engage in the College’s mission and values
- Knowledge of first-generation student needs and practices supporting belonging, persistence, and completion.
- Skill in success coaching, needs assessment, outreach, referrals, follow-up, and caseload management.
- Ability to coordinate and assess programs, study-away experiences, events, partnerships, and student ambassadors.
- Skill in maintaining records, analyzing data, using College systems, and preparing institutional and Title III reports.
- Strong communication, organization, and judgment, including the ability to apply policies, manage competing priorities, protect confidential information, and recognize when escalation is necessary.
Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience.

Physical Demands:
The position entails staffing events that involve loading, unloading, hauling, and setting up boxes or cartons of materials. The weight of the cartons may vary but could range from 20-40 pounds. Most of the recruitment events require standing for long hours. The job entails traveling. Additionally, a significant amount of keyboard/computer work is involved in the job.
The nature of the job necessitates frequent communication and collaboration with other individuals, either face-to-face or over the phone. The employee's responsibilities require active listening, thoughtful responses, and effective communication skills to facilitate productive interactions with others.
Hazards: Moving materials and standing for extended periods can cause injury.
