About the Position:
The Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter School for Peace and Conflict Resolution Associate Dean for Academic Administration will be considered a tenured Associate / Full Professor.
|
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the day-to-day academic operations and related budget matters of all degree programs, including curriculum development processes, administration of course scheduling with Faculty Chair, and student affairs;
- Supervises academic program staff;
- Assures that academic program staff receive appropriate mentoring and support;
- Hires, supervises, and manages performance of adjunct faculty;
- Supervises and provides leadership for the recruitment and enrollment process of all degree programs;
- Coordinates academic planning for student success and retention initiatives;
- Supports Carter faculty board committees addressing curriculum and other academic matters;
- Coordinates with the faculty chair and relevant GMU/Carter units such as marketing and communications, development, events, and others on academic initiatives;
- Represents Carter at appropriate GMU committees; and
- Performs other duties, as requested by the Dean, for the school wide scholarship endeavors and professional service.

Required Qualifications:
- Terminal degree in a related field;
- Relevant experience in higher education instruction, administration, student affairs;
- Demonstrated successful program management experience and a proven track record of leadership, staff supervision, and strategic planning;
- Demonstrated success in the creation and management of student-centered services and programs including initiatives related to recruitment and retention, learning support services, and student development;
- Possess a track record of effective mentoring and relationship building with colleagues, faculty, staff, and students;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; and
- A commitment to actively supporting inclusiveness and collegiality.
