The Center for Applied Peace Strategies (APS) at George Mason University fosters global peace and stability through innovations in research, practice, and policy. About the Position:
The Program Manager supports APS leadership in executing its vision and operational goals. This position provides high-level administrative support, program development, and operational management. The position is responsible for the operational effectiveness of the Center to ensure the advancement of the mission.

Responsibilities:
Strategic Support:
- Assists the directors with strategic planning processes, providing operational support for decision-making, goal setting, and prioritization;
- Coordinates and prioritizes initiatives, ensuring alignment with the Center’s goals; and
- Tracks and reports progress towards the Center’s strategic goals.
Program and Project Management:
- Monitors program budgets, timelines, and deliverables, ensuring effective use of resources;
- Facilitates collaborations with faculty, staff, and external partners to enhance program outcomes; and
- Manages tasks and tracks project progress from ideation to implementation.
Administrative Management:
- Manages the Center’s operational functions, including scheduling on behalf of the directors;
- Collaborates with the Office of Research Innovation and Economic Impact to ensure operations are in compliance with George Mason University processes and procedures; and
- Prepares reports, presentations, and other materials for meetings and stakeholders.
Communication and Coordination:
- Serves as the primary liaison between the Center’s staff and the directors, effectively streamlining communications to optimize the directors’ time;
- Oversees internal and external communications strategies, ensuring alignment with the Center’s goals and fostering engagement among stakeholders;
- Cultivates and maintains relationships with international partners, stakeholders, and organizations;
- Represents the Center at global conferences, workshops, and meetings, including delivering presentations and fostering collaborative opportunities; and
- Facilitates effective communication across diverse cultural context, ensuring that messaging is clear and appropriate for various audiences.
Other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Some work experience (generally 2 years) in a related professional setting;
- Organizational, communication, and presentation skills;
- Relationship skills: teamwork, collaboration, networking, and development;
- Technology skills including at least some Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; and
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and work independently.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience studying or researching abroad;
- Experience working in a college/university research center environment;
- Project management skills; and
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
